1. To Absent Comrades
Fair winds and following seas, those of us here await the time that we will be reunited with you at Fiddler's Green.

Yes, I know I used a Navy term with an Army reference. However both are appropriate.

The 110 yr. old French veteran is a tribute to integrity and honor ,something void in Iraq.

3. I disagree.
I think there are honorable soldiers serving in Iraq too.

I'm amazed that the 110 yr. old French veteran is even still alive!!
Yes, he served in an 'honorable' war but soldiers don't make policy.

I thank them all.

7. In The Early Morning Rain...
Another soldier died today;
Each must go his own way,
In the Early morning Rain.

There are times when we feel the sacrifice that so many have made. As a Vet, there are times when I fear the sound of Taps, not because of what it speaks to my ears, but for what it declares to my being; another has fallen, a comrade passing the final muster.

To all my fellow Vets, to those who serve today, to those who support those that would give the ultimate sacrifice...I thank you all.

The current conflict must end. But those that man the ramparts, those that stand the lonely vigil, those that are called upon to defend this nation; their unselfish devotion to this nation and it's Constitution shows a dignity and valor that need to be recognized.

11. You are most welcome....
Vets have the unique experience of understanding just what this is all about.

The 101st Keyboard Warriors and the pundits who have never served, yet have the largest of mouths are the deluded ones.

I recall at the beginning of the present hostilities a 20 something RW clod talking up the war...right up until someone asked him, on screen, why he hadn't joined yet, since he was so "pro-war"...interesting color of red he showed on his face...:) I wonder if that kid is working for some GOP Chickenhawk? I'm sure he didn't run off to the recruiter, after all, if someone else is going to fight or get killed, why should HE bother...:grr:

13. yes I to remember seeing a scene such as that one if not that one
the dick pretty much 'splained it with his words of having better things to do with his time. in search for that utterance by the dick I came across this article about him in rolling stone

(snip) This pattern of misplaced confidence in Cheney, followed by disastrous results, runs throughout his life -- from his days as a dropout at Yale to the geopolitical chaos he has helped create in Baghdad. Once you get to know his history, the cycle becomes clear: First, Cheney impresses someone rich or powerful, who causes unearned wealth and power to be conferred on him. Then, when things go wrong, he blames others and moves on to a new situation even more advantageous to himself. (snip)

9. Thanks for the reminder that we're not in this alone
another example of why I think we'll pull through these dark times. albeit bruised and bloody maybe but make it nevertheless.
