1. Thanks for the update...
"will join the Menlo Park, California-based venture capital firm as a partner focused on alternative energy investments"

He must've decided that this is the way he could best speed things up re global warming initiatives. I can't blame him ~ it must be more fun and less stressful to do something like this than run for prez.

3. He Gets to Interact with Young Geniuses...
... who share his passion for creating new technologies to:

1. Generate alternative forms of energy;

2. Abate past environmental damage; and

3. Create new American jobs.

Plus, he gets paid well, gets to travel, and doesn't have to face the campaign trail.

What's not to love?

5. It's a job I would love too!
I'm very happy for him, and for us ~ good things are happening in lots of places. Just not so much in the government.

10. I agree. Still, it would have been thoughtful of him to not leave his
millions of supporters hanging. A simple, declaration of a definite no, followed by a request for us to get behind one of the other candidates would have been nice.

16. If he were to endorse anyone---
my guess is Edwards. John positions on the environment most closely parallel Al's global warming initiatives.

in San Francisco.

7. He will benefit I think...
And John Edwards too. But I still don't think everyone is on the stage yet.

4. I saw that earlier. He'd have to divest and quit if he were running, so
I think we'll have to accept that he won't run.

6. Yeah, I think he purposely kept his language vague because...
He really was looking for the best way to use his talents and clout, as he said in October ~ and this does seem to fit the bill.

22. what i don't like about is the aesthetics, it looks like someone plunked a cabin cruiser
in the middle of a schooner, when i was growing my Dad had a beautiful sail boat and i guess thats the way i picture them looking.

17. and vulgarest. Just blechh.
I'm sorry, but I don't see what's so great about what Gore's doing. Even if he is working to invest in innovative technologies, he's doing so while making big bucks that he doesn't remotely need: He's already a very wealthy man.

24. it's a firm that provides start up money, if there is something Gore can add to that
than great, maybe it's not all about how much Al makes.

18. How would you recommend U.S. inventors and green mfgrs find funding?
Do tell, please. I see a situation where our nation is perfectly poised to have a new wave of manufacturing and service industries. What's the problem with venture capital funding new industry?

Are we supposed to just sit on our thumbs crying about unemployment and the lack of jobs forever? Or are we going to do something about it?

30. Nice to meet you.
I just can't abide the commonly held delusion that 1) earning a lot of money is bad, and 2) business is bad. I'm a future business owner who will be looking for some startup and venture capital of my own soon. I, for one, am absolutely THRILLED that Gore is placing himself in this tier of business development.

:hi:

leave? Maybe he feels that being Pres. just isn't worth his time and talents.
