Shameless NeoCons making up Lincoln quotes.

On Tuesday, Frank Gaffney, Jr., writing in the Washington Times, quoted Abraham Lincoln saying “Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled, or hanged.” Yesterday, Rep. Don Young, speaking about the president’s plan for a troop “surge” in Iraq, cited the quote on the House floor. “He had the same problem this President has, with an unpopular war,” Young said of Lincoln. “The same problem with people trying to redirect the commander in chief."

As it turns out, however, the quote is phony. Brooks Jackson at FactCheck.org reported that the quote showed up last August and quickly spread over the Internet. “Republican candidate Diana Irey used the 'quote' recently in her campaign against Democratic Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, and it has appeared thousands of times on the Internet, in newspaper articles and letters to the editor, and in Republican speeches,” Jackson noted.

The real author of the line, Michael Waller, says that an editor at Insight magazine – the same magazine at the center of the Barack Obama madrassah scandal, which is owned by the Washington Times – mistakenly put quotes around his words. The Times has not issued a correction.

2. Did the editor also mistakenly attribute the "quote" to Abraham Lincoln?
Is Waller saying it is a mistake to put quotes around a sentence that is attributed to someone other than the author of a piece? It seems to me that the "mistake" is the author's, not the editor's (of course a good editor should verify the quote).

3. This is so common I have grown to expect it.
If Publicans are so great, why is it that the truth is never good enough for them?

4. Lincoln was an anti-war Conmgressman, stongly opposed to an unjust war.
He introduced a resolution in Congress demanding that the President explain in specific detail the trumped-up circumstances that led to the start of the Mexican War. Lincoln was a great President and these ignorant propagandists show just how anti-American they are by lying about him. The sad thing is the huge number of people in this country that believe the propaganda.

Wanna talk about willfully taking actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military?

I happen to think that continuing to support a disastrous policy for a failed war that started because of lies in the first place, in which our military personnel are daily being killed and seriously wounded, and for which there is no end in sight, is pretty fucking damaging to morale, and it definitely undermines the military!

So, Mr Young, who *exactly* are the saboteurs??
