Why would a man like Dick Cheney, who is on death's door
Edited on Mon Nov-12-07 09:45 PM by Mike03
and has children and grandchildren, behave so casually when it comes to the lives of others? What does he think he can gain or accomplish from destroying the Middle East, destroying American and civilian Iraqi lives and throwing away our financial futures?

I don't understand what is in his mind.

There is only so much that one man or one family can consume, own or buy.

Any psychologists or psychiatrists out there: What drives an old, sick man to wreak havoc on the earth???

More than anything in this world, I want a leader I can trust. Biden. Clinton. Kucinich. Edwards.

Please, give us a leader with some morals, conscience and awareness of how things are now, and what is needed to begin the process of healing this world.

4. He considers himself part of the solution, when in fact, he
is simply in suspension. Suspended logic, suspended compassion, suspended respect for the beliefs of others, etc. Perhaps he is living out the "father knows best" fantasy for lack of other interests.

5. I doubt he's thinking about his net worth while supporting US
superiority in the ME, or expansion of the powers of the executive branch of ou gov't. Remember, Cheney was part of the PNAC Plan, and I think he REALLY believes in it! I've also read many times that he was extremely dismayed by the loss of power in the Executive Branch after the Nixon resignation. He vowed than that he would make it his lifelong ambition to restore and even expand the powers of the Ex. Branch.

He is in the position to do both now, and is taking advantage of that opportunity!

28. WHY? So a President with favorable policy ideas to HIS and the
rest of the corporatists can do exactly what Shrub has been doing...privatize everything and get rid of those damn Roosevelt social give aways like SS! THAT benefits Cheney and ALL of his friends in the wealthy class!

10. Not a doctor.. but,
I've read that lots of people with heart problems have had mini-strokes from tiny clots that went to their brains.

I've wondered about Cheney. Maybe he doesn't appear to be completely out of it, but small damage to his thalamus or other structure could further warp his behavior.

I only say this because I can't imagine why someone in his position... rich, old, and with health problems... would do anything but hug his grandkids and play old man games.

12. Granted, I understand what many of you are saying
But I simply can't conceive of what a human being could want more than to be comfortable, to be able to imagine a good and healthy future for his or her children and grandchildren.

What is to be benefited from destroying the earth. I know this may sound simplistic, but I'm so tired of all the justifications, complexifications and excuses for why human beings are so greedy and irrational.

We are doomed unless we join together to save ourselves.

Dick Cheney just disgusts me, even though I know I probably am demonizing him. I don't know anyone as selfish or hideous as he is or Bush is, and I know many people his age, who have very serious diseases, probably terminal diseases, who are so generous and graceful under pressure.

Sorry to ramble. It has been a really emotional day for me.

14. The reason why this breaks my heart
My father is the most generous person I have ever seen or known in my life and he has helped so many people and been so frugal with his own live, and been so generous. And he has a very bad cancer now, but that mother fucking evil bastard Cheney just keep wasting American lives in Iraq so that he can enhance his net worth via his investment in defense funds. I know life is not fair, but why did these horrible people have to destroy our country? How could Americans be so bloody stupid as to elect them, when it was obvious from the get go they were damned evil incompetents???

31. He's not throwing away his family's future, he's securing it for generations.
In some sick way I admire Dick Cheney, he won the game. He became the most powerful man on Earth, literally shaping the world to his own benefit, with the most toys and more money than most could ever dream of. Picture Don Corleone on a global scale, that's Dick Cheney.

Why does he do what he does? Because he can.

I'm also quite sure he doesn't look at it the way the rest of us do. To him, he's doing "good".
