Pelosi Staffer Denies She’ll Put Impeachment on the Table if She Receives 10,000 Letters
Posted by steve fournier under Impeachment

I received this email yesterday from six different correspondents:
“There is an impeachment resolution submitted in the House of Representatives to impeach VP Richard Cheney. Nancy Pelosi is telling groups who support this that she will respond if she receives 10,000 hand written letters. Please send Nancy Pelosi a hand-written letter telling her you support Resolution 333.
The address is:
The Honorable Nancy Pelosi
Speaker of the House of Representatives
235 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20515-0508
Phone: (202) 225-4965
Fax: (202) 225-8259″

I decided to check this out, and I called the Speaker’s office in Washington, DC. The staffer who answered denied the report. The aide told me that members of Pelosi’s staff are aware of the report, but the aide wouldn’t confirm that the Speaker herself was aware of it. He said the report is ”baseless” and that she never made such a statement.

1. O.K., So How Many Of You Optimists Actually Believed The Story?
Really, did you think that even if she received 10 MILLION HANDWRITTEN LETTERS, that she was going to put Impeachment Anywhere Near The Table, let alone On It?

King george could suspend the constitution. Suspend the elections. Heck, he could declare Congress Illegal, and Pelosi would just smile and say..."we have more important things to deal with than impeachment."

2. Well, of course it was false.
It sounds like every other political spam e-mail floating around. People should have taken this with the same level of seriousness as an e-mail proclaiming that Bill Gates would send them $10 if they just forward a chain letter to six thousand people.

4. Of course it was a hoax. Do you really think she gives a damn about what
mere citizens want, to say nothing of her responsibilities under the Constitution?

And to think, the founding fathers thought the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives was going to the most powerful position in the Republic, his powers derived from heading up the branch of government structured to be most directly responsive to the will of the people.

Oh, well.
