What to do about a problem with Regions Bank.
Years ago I went to Regions to escape AmSouth and much to my dismay last month the two merged. Once the merger happened they instituted the new rule that you could no longer transfer funds in or out of your equity line via on-line banking. I guess maybe they have been hacked enough or something to make it difficult to transfer funds out but I don't know why they think anyone would hack to make a payment for me. Anyway, because of this new rule I went to the bank eight days ago and gave them a $400 check from my daughter and told them to put it on the equity line. I logged on a couple of days later and noticed it was not posted. Went to the bank Friday morning and they kept trying to figure out where the money went and couldn't. They were blaming the new system about making it difficult to do things. I had to go to work and left them my cell number and fax number and told them to send me a fax of the receipt once they corrected it. No word and bank was closed Monday so went in yesterday morning and asked and no one knew anything and I gave them the numbers off the back of my daughter's check, which had cleared the week before (different bank). No word again yesterday or today. I e-mailed the branch manager, who I have e-mailed in the past, and asked for help and asked if they could credit my account and research where it went later. No response. It is about to be overdue and this concerns my house. We plan to show up tomorrow at the bank. If we get nowhere tomorrow, what is our next course of action?

1. Threaten Suit
Threaten to sue them in small claims court.

Then move your account to a different bank.

2. Update.
Just got an e-mail from the manager saying they will check into the status and take care of it. We'll see.

3. get a copy of the check that cleared front and back from your daughters
bank and the receipt you got when you made the payment and FAX IT IMMEDIATELY TO YOUR CONTACT AT YOUR BANK...THEN PRINT OUT THE FAX SUMMARY TO SHOW YOU FAXED X# OF PAGES TO THAT FAX NUMBER!

4. Leave Them. Pull Your Account
I use Bank of Nashville and have always been happy with the way I'm treated by them. If you're in the area, I'd recommend you investigate them.

They might be getting to "big" for me since they merged with Synovus a year or two ago, though.

Avenue Bank are the new guys in town; small and local.

That doesn't help you with your immediate problem, but really ... there's no way on earth I'd ever go back to using a bohemoth bank, after my experiences with BoN.

I'm assuming you are in the service region, though.
