36. Sorry, words do matter. I am a proud liberal, too, but I like progressive because

its opposite is, well, REGRESSIVE, which sounds like a caveman or something that happens when kids are being potty trained. Also, progressive indicates progress, forward not backward thinking.

I think it is wiser and more important to win with words. The term liberal will eventually come back but right now let's not play into the hands of the RW...

Maybe it's my Wisconsin roots, or maybe it's that PolySci course where I learned that the original meaning of Liberal included folks like Ronald Reagan and Maggie Thatcher.

The sad thing is, "progressive" is starting to take on a bit of a negative connotation. When I hear the word these days, it's usually being used by some Liberal who's too wimpy to come out and call themselves Liberal. :shrug:

Anyone can put together a video ad today. You could do it in the privacy of your own home. You can upload it to YouTube. But you need BIG bucks to get it on television, especially since the megacorporations that run EVERYTHING in TV are hostile to such ads and will charge more for them.

I work in TV. I know. I've seen it at work.

There are lots of these ads uploaded for free on YouTube...where only the faithful will watch them and cluck about how "good" they are. They won't get to the people who need to see them, because TV advertising costs money.

It might help if Democratic candidates believed these things and would promote them in their TV ads. They have lots of money and will be advertising on TV anyway. Oh, wait. I'm being stupid. I was thinking that there were any Democratic candidates with those kind of principles, or a spine strong enough to stand up to state them. My bad.

Television can SURPRISE you with ads. They are there to be found. A Freeper would be surprised, and maybe enlightened, if he was watching <i>Championship Mud Wrestling</i> and this played as a commercial.

You would have to specifically HUNT for this video put on an Internet page. The Freeper would never deliberately go looking for something he has been trained to hate.

Like it or not, paid advertising is the only way to communicate with everybody. Unless, that is, this ad is just intended to give a little goose to the people it already agrees with. Which is what nearly all YouTube video productions are about, preaching to the choir, and that's why they are essentially video masturbation.

After several years of this tyranny---an no cohesive attack against
it, I am very hopeful after seeing these ads.

I have to say---it's about damn time. Conservatives and their venomous
snakes in talk radio have defined us as lunatics. Nothing could be

It's about time we got in the ring and went on the offensive. We
have the truth and justice on our side. They are all about corporate
