Yes... he gets a whopping FEE for showing up to fundraisers, which doesn't include massive expenses for private Gulfstream IV, etc. What a bastard.

Boy oh boy... the shit is beginning to hit the fan and spray all over his golden halo. Let the fun begin!

The REAL Saint (Veronica) Guiliani

While charging speaking fees is a regular practice for expert and celebrity speakers, some are criticizing Giuliani for collecting speaking fees from charities. CNN reports on one appearance at a 2005 tsunami fundraiser for which Giuliani received $100,000, and also mentions a contract stipulation that the former New York City mayor be given the use of a "private aircraft -- must be a Gulfstream 4 or bigger."

One political analyst tells CNN, "He's a presidential candiate, everything he's done in the past is gonna come into scrutiny."

2. I think that it would be nice to know in advance if speakers at fundraisers are being paid
and if so, how much. I think it's deceptive to ask people to attend a "fundraiser" when a sizable portion of the money they pay to attend is going to a greedy pig like Giuliani.

a DECENT person would waive their appearance fee. On the other hand, charities should avoid these kinds of pay-outs like the plague.

There are enough decent wealthy celebrities who would give their time at their expense. F*ck that greedy son-of-a-bitch.

3. New Zealand and Rudi
A couple of years ago Rudi was in Austrailia and some group in Christchurch, New Zealand wanted him to speek at a function of theirs. The offered to pay his speaking fee, but when he asked for a private jet to take him to New Zealand at $45,000 dollars they told him to take a hike and got somebody else. This prick is an elitist bastard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

20. Judi didn't mind marching down 5th Avenue with her married lover
in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. She absolutely reveled in it. She's got no shame. She was married at that time, too, and had a teenage daughter she wasn't paying much attention to.

7. The contract released on thesmokinggun.com is NOT for a fundraiser, but
standard for speaking engagements.

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2007/0216071giuliani1.html

We've previously posted the tour riders of Dick Cheney and John Kerry, but those two pols look like pikers compared to the high-rolling, diva-like Rudolph Giuliani, wannabe Republican presidential candidate. The former New York mayor has been banking a whopping $100,000 per speech to corporations, trade groups, and university audiences, according to his standard appearance contract. The document, a copy of which you'll find below, notes that Giuliani, 62, requires private air transportation to his gigs. But, the contract states, any old plane won't do: "Please note that the private aircraft MUST BE a Gulfstream IV or bigger." Such a jet sells for about $30 million, in case you're wondering. Giuliani's speech contract also requires him to be lodged in a two-bedroom hotel suite, which is to be flanked by rooms occupied by his security team. Rudy's suite must be registered in the name of a representative of the Washington Speakers Bureau, which arranges Giuliani appearances. And Giuliani is very picky about how he is to be photographed at gigs, apparently concerned that "direct, on-camera flash bulbs" result in none-too-flattering images. He also imposes restrictions on press coverage of his appearances, during which he speaks for 45 minutes and answers audience questions for 15 minutes. A copy of Giuliani's contract was released by Oklahoma State University, where he spoke last March for $100,000 (and cost the school an additional $47,000 in jet expenses). Oh, one other thing: someone needs to let the politician's agents know that their client's name is spelled "Giuliani," not "Giulinni." (5 pages)

10. link from rawstory re: 100K fee
and he does request private jet to appearances (charities included)- see New Zealand post.

I read a while back that Guiliani charges enormous fees to appear at charities- this (tsunami fundraiser) is only one example. I just doen't understand why any charity would pay out like that. Disgraceful.

11. But Giuliani is taking $100,000 or more to speak at CHARITY events as well.
He apparently has been embarrassed into donating a portion of those fees when his greed becomes public knowledge.

Info here:

"In another speech, at a charity fundraiser in South Carolina in February 2005, Giuliani also commanded a $100,000 fee, though he donated $20,000 of it to the event. After he was criticized by a local official, he ultimately decided to donate an additional $60,000.

Giuliani reportedly received more than $200,000 for another speech, given to benefit an Australian research hospital in 2003. When it was disclosed two years later that the hospital netted only $15,000, the revelation sparked widespread criticism in Australia. Months later, after The New York Observer picked up the story, Giuliani threw his own fundraiser for the hospital."

and more here:

""I was shocked and disappointed to learn that Mayor Giuliani charged our state hospital association $100,000 to speak at an event to benefit tsunami victims. What makes this most offensive is the fact that the occasion was widely publicized as a charitable event. Nowhere was it disclosed that Mayor Giuliani was being paid for his appearance," he wrote to the mayor's office.'

17. to be fair
it's not like he gives the speech, then says "by the way, that'll be 100k". The people hiring him know what it costs and choose to do it anyway.

18. But the people buying tickets to the fundraiser don't know it.
I'll bet that some people would not attend if they knew how much was going into Rudy's pocket rather than to the charity.
