Wolf Dancing Dangerously with Clinton: "Was Ross Perot Right?" |
|
Watched the debate, now listening to it again (the old Kennedy/Nixon debate dichotomy - does the opinion change with audio only vs. video?).
One thing that caught my ear more this go-around: did Wolf Blitzer try to insinuate the phrase "giant sucking sound" into a question to Senator Clinton, with a certain innuendo?
Egad. If GOP operatives pick up on that double entendre, it will re-appear in the general.
"Couldn't Hillary *hear* the 'giant sucking sound' from her privileged position in the West Wing?"

1. Wolf isn't that clever. |
|
You, on the other hand, have a dirty mind.

2. Actually, What Caught My Ear... |
|
... was the audience snickers and stifled laughs, as they seemed to process the memorable line from the Ross Perot NAFTA debate. It seemed to get worse when Senator Clinton said she had a fuzzy memory, and could only remember the charts.

4. I remember him calling Larry King every other day. "I'm in!" "I'm out!" |
|
"The volunteers want me back in!" "Someone is threatening my daughter's wedding by circulating a picture doctored to make her look like a lesbian!"
Ah what a kook he was :)

with all the ins and outs and the charts still got 17% of the vote as a 3rd party candidate -- mostly due to the disgust the country felt towards poppy bush, and a not too enthusiastic attitude towards Clinton.
sound familar? the public is pretty disgusted with smirk-boy and the republics, meanwhile the Democratic members of congress aren't showing any balls or spine and the candidates aren't gathering any great amount of enthusiasm from the general public.
I've said it before, many times - if the Dems don't don their balls, and insert a spine - we could see a 3rd party candidate become a serious contender. Probably not enough to win a national election, but certainly enough to hurt the Democratic and republic nominees.
As far as house and senate races go, the Democratic party will most likely pick up a couple more seats, but not as many as they could if they showed some balls and spine.

6. I Think Wolf Was Coyly Purposeful... |
|
... with that question. I listened to the delivery and the crowd's reaction multiple times, then re-watched it. Wolf seemed smugly satisfied that the audience "got it," I think.
