My story this week about our local shelter for homeless vets was picked up by the Leader and run today on the Op-Ed page. No online link yet.

I WANT to tell a story about how America treats its veterans. But first, some background.

At the monthly meeting of the Londonderry Democratic Committee, we collected food for Liberty House. I had the honor of delivering the goods this month.

Liberty House is a transitional home and drop-in center for veterans. We first heard about Liberty House at our September meeting from state Rep. Steve Shurtleff, D-Penacook, a veteran and retired U.S. marshal. Since that meeting we've been working on ways to support Liberty House.
