Whale Killers Blame Coast Guard for length of time whale suffered

The tribe's marine biologist reports that:

"It should be understood that if the hunters had been supplied with sufficient ammunition
not lost the primary rifle, and if hunt had been allowed to progress unimpeded by the
Coast Guard, the whale would surely have died much sooner."

On the other hand, Had not (members of) the Makah tribe been hunting in violation of tribal, state, and federal law, the whale (most probably) would not have died at all.
