That we have a baseball player being indicted for lying about his own personal use of steroids, but we have a President and Vice President not under investigation for lying us into a war, where hundreds of thousands are being misplaced, injured, and killed?!
HOW IS THIS OK? What the hell is wrong with this country's priorities, dammit?!

1. That's a damned good question. |

Part of it, in my opinion, is that Bonds is black and so he's more subject to criticism.
And part of it is that by prosecuting small crimes people are convinced that we're a nation of laws, and that illusion allows people to get away with the big crimes.

Although I must say, I'd say Bonds's success (some might say greed?) has more to do with people disliking him than his race. At least, that's the case for me, and hopefully for others.
I definitely agree that it's much easier to prosecute small crimes than huge ones that America cannot get its psyche around. There was another thread posted a couple weeks ago about American infallibilty - the idea that our country is so great, our leaders so good, that we could not possibly fall victim to the same kinds of manipulations that have been going on for hundreds or thousands of years.
