Pentagon propaganda goes to the movies
I went to see Beowulf on my local theater on Saturday, and I saw the latest in Pentagon brainwashing: The 3 Doors Down video for the national guard.

The video incorporates patriotic images like the Revolutionary War and WWII with current day army training, set to the tune of 3 Doors Down's Citizen/Soldier. I went out of the theater room blurring "War profiteering bastards!". This video is attempting to brainwash our youth into joining the guard, and a free trip to Iraq, where most of the guard is.

I'd rather join Al-Qaeda then to be brainwashed by this propaganda video. I don't want this latest brainwashing instrument that Gates brought to send new recruits into was senseless war where they would have a chance to come home IN BODY BAGS.

Why did the theater chains show this junk at a time when our soldiers are dying for a bastard of a commander-in-chief's lies?

On a related note, I'm planning to watch Redacted soon.

1. Is this going to be another absurd post-and-run like that Faith Hill thread?
Because your statements are getting a little carried away to say the least.

3. No.
I was a little embarrassed about posting the Faith Hill thread. After I realized Ms. Hill was a Democratic, i recently apologized for posted that thread.

Anyway, I don't blame it on 3 Doors Down, I used to like their song "Kyptonite" back in 2000. It is the Pentagon and their god-forsaken recruitment ads that scared, angered and concerned me. Besides, I referred that "War profiteering bastards" line to Army National Guard recruiters, who are conning our youth into signing up to be sent into Iraq. Where most of the National Guard units are stationed there.

I don't want those Pentagon morons to force our kids this way.

8. I think you've crossed the line in a couple of ways
First of all, the National Guard recruiters are not war profiteers. I certainly haven't seen any of them rolling around my military town in limos making champagne toasts at Applebees. Secondly, I find your remark about being more willing to join Al Qaeda than whatever else you're angry at to be kind of disconcerting on a general level.

5. Before or after you watched the film?
If you still watched the movie despite your outrage at the commercial beforehand, then you don't really have anything to complain about.

Me, I don't like that I have to pay eight bucks for a movie and still sit through fifteen minutes of commercials for soft drinks, SUVs, cellphones, and the like. A commercial for the military is no different and not really any more manipulative.

Complain instead about 3 Doors Down.

4. Calm down a bit-
like it or not there is a place for the military and that isn't going to change no matter who is sitting in the WH making the decisions. There is no draft and so you can sit home and rant.

6. I'm offended by 3 Doors Down having a career.
They're neck and neck with Nickelback as shittiest band.

7. Transformers is very pro-military, I thought. It was really pro-Hoover too.
And it was a big advertisement for GM.

11. i enjoyed transformers, a good popcorn movie. sometimes i want to see something with
no character development and action and i got both in that move. Same thing with the kind of remake of Poseidon Adventure, hilariously bad dialog but great special effects.

16. Poseidon Advanture remake was much less bad than I expected. Good pace. Right length.
I really wasn't bored at all.

14. It ends at the Hoover dam where we learn that Herbert Hoover saved Americans from aliens
by acting fast to build a dam to generate enough electricity to keep the evil robot on ice. He was a misunderstood hero. And it ends up being the military who saves the day.

If you want a lesson in right wing propaganda, watch this movie.
