Aha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!... part 2
Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry will also get wallet shock. Both cars come with 18.5-gallon gas tanks that would cost $64.75 for a fill-up.

Let's all laugh @ the Honda and Toyota owners too apparently gas has gone up for them too. THE LOUSY LOSERS!

Let's laugh @ the rescue organization I work with. We have a donated Ford F-150 van. Now it will cost us ovet 200.000 a weekend just to drive the dogs to the adoption events.

Let's laugh @ the lady in the rescue organization who drives an ASPEN that she uses to haul her 9 foster dogs to the adoption event. We may lose her as a volunteer cuz she can't afford to bring the dogs so the dogs will have to go back to the shelter and then we won't be able to take anymore in so more will be put down @ animal control.

Let's laugh @ the guy who paints for a living. He has a truck and his partner has a van. They are so stupid. They could put all their ladders on a car and pile in the 8 guys with the cases of paint.

Let's laugh @ the 18 wheelers that bring our shit to the grocery stores and instead of a 1 gallon milk costing 4.29 it will now cost 5.00.

Let's laugh @ all the poor fuckers who heat their houses with oil. BUHWAWAWA...they are spending now 1,000.00 to heat their homes. Yeah. Let's laugh @ them too.

Let's laugh @ the poor folks who take the bus cuz they don't have cars but they can't afford bus fare because prices have gone up.

Let's laugh @ the school districts who have to fill up all those fuckin buses.

Let's laugh at all the poor fuckers that drive cars with gas tanks. I'm o.k. though cuz I walk and bike anywhere so I can just back and laugh my ass off.

YEAH...LET'S ALL LAUGH AT THE STUPID FUCKERS.

Some shit is just to hard to pass up. I'm going back into hiding now. C y'all after the primaries.

it's about the only thing we use our F-150 for anymore, that and home improvement projects. What some people don't realize is you can't just throw several strange dogs in the back of your car and expect peace to reign.

You're good people Xultar!

2. sensative?
i believe the guy who originally started this thread was just having a laugh at all the housewives and people who did not need SUV's and those huge trucks because now they are paying for their vanity. I do not think the person who started the thread was laughing at people who actually need large vehicles for their work.

19. In the real world, there's usually no doubt.
> How will they know who to laugh @. Will they go up and ask @ the gas pump?

In the real world, there's usually no doubt. Some hints:

o If it's never carried a heavier load than the
driver and his attache case, it's *NOT* a working
truck.

o If the driver's wearing a suit and tie or that
latest fashionable dress, it's *NOT* a working truck

o If the paint *AND* the bed-liner look brand new,
it's *NOT* a working a truck.

o If it doesn't have the company name painted on
the tailgate and the sides, it's *NOT* a working
truck.

o If it has nineteen driving lights mounted on an
expensive roll-bar, it's *NOT* a working truck.

o If it pulls into an employee spot in the company
parking lot/garage, it's *NOT* a working truck.

o If it's not deducted on the company's annual
income taxes, it's *NOT* a working truck.

Workingtrucks are full of work or the evidence of work.
It really isn's that difficult to spot them, and we
really need to understand that some people made some
damned poor choices over the years, and now they're
being shown the error of their ways. And we ought to
let them gain the experience *IN FULL* because
otherwise, how will they learn?

You can deny what I said all you want but the reality
is plain to see to anyone cruising the interstates
during rush hour.

And no, I don't give a damn if someone "needs" a truck
to move their horse trailer, their boat, their ATV,
or their six dog cages. The first three are "wants",
not needs and the last one is better done by a minivan
or maybe even a station wagon.

I live in a predominantly red area and see HUGE SUVs and monster trucks all the time! They're the norm and not the exception. Often these suvs have only one person in them and the trucks are pristine clean (not used for actual hauling). It appears to me these were purchased based on "entitlement" and not "need."

This is what happens when you put the losers, and former oil execs, in the White House...

Even sucking on fumes I don't thing I ever put 16 gallons or more in it.

I'm curious what accounts for the difference in specificied and real world fuel capacity.

11. You're probably not really sucking on fumes
My car is like that. The capacity is 16 gallons. I've pushed it after the "empty" light comes on, and can drive around town for a couple more days with the needle pegged at the bottom. Then when I fill up, it still won't take the full 16 gallons. Unfortunately, that knowledge is dangerous. It can leave you stranded, so you're better off believing you're tank is empty.

BTW, it's really not good to let a tank get that empty. All the shit floating in the gas gets sucked right down to your fuel line. Especially in older cars, this is asking for trouble.

I know what it does to fuel injectors. I usually fill up when it just reaches E.

I am just suprised that they build such a large safety margin into the low fuel indicator, 2-2.5 gallons to go 50 miles.

But we're way off topic here. :)

I'm really just complaining about gas prices that have gone up about 300% in 7 years. It's making my only yearly road trip (already cut down from two) to visit my family a matter of moral judgment. I can afford the gas and I have a fuel efficient car, but I also don't want to give any more money to Bush's pals.

Those who own SUVs as status symbols, yeah, they deserve to suffer the pain at the pump.

Those who ned a truck for work and other important stuff, man my heart goes out to them! Let us not forget those who are really bad off and have really old cars (the big kind) and are stuck with their crappy mileage.

I always marvel at those who post here who seem to think it is within everyone's means to just buy a smaller, good on gas car. Sure! We can all afford to buy a shiny new Prius, we just prefer not to, right? Oy.

I sure hope you don't take your compassionate ass back into hiding Xultar. We need as much voice of reason around here as we can get!

Edited on Mon Nov-19-07 12:34 PM by wuushew
I mean even if both cars depreciated to almost nothing a large car would have an inherrently greater scrap value owning to the value of the metal in the body.

Even if you had to finance the purchase of a used small car the monthly payments would be offset by the decreased fuel costs.

Plenty of old model Civics on the road as well as Geo Metros.

28. Many different situations
Some people have no money. Imagine. Absolutely no money. Wondering how to buy tomorrow's gallon of milk (at $4 a pop!).

You'd be surprised how many people are driving cars they inherited or bought long ago and have managed to keep alive.

Figure in madatory insurance, increasing license costs and the cost of everything going up, yep, all you'll be able to buy is something better on gas at some shady dealer who'll be glad to give you credit, at outrageous rates!

There are many among us who are so very poor they'd laugh at your suggestion, as long as they could fend off the tears of frustration.

35. Don't forget "predatory lenders"
If a car is in decent shape and is actually re-sellable, it may not even make it to the "we finance anyone!!" lot. Usually people with poor or no credit, or unverifiable, whatever, don't get to pick and choose any car on the lot. There are only certain cars which they're "eligible" for, and that's often a larger, older car the dealer needs to get rid of. As another poster pointed out, it's sad how many DUers there are that think people are driving big old gas-hogs because they're "stoopid." Getting a cheap old Metro won't do you any good if you've put $2000 into a tranny in two months, or have to rebuild the engine.

It really is tough world out there for a lot of people. I've been there, and I've fortunate enough to dig my way out. But I've seen the dark side of our economy, I've lived a cash existence while driving "embarrassing" cars. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. At least I knew my situation was temporary and that I had a skill that I could eventually use to rebuild my life. Many of these people some of you are ragging on don't even have HOPE. What little they may have has been take away by the BushCo economy.

someone was talking about people who purchased gas guzzlers who did not need them and then laughed at them at the pump, some people misconstrued his comment into thinking he was laughing at all people who had big vehicles and then some people got defensive because some people need big vehicles (farmers, contruction workers, etc) then it got blown way out of proportion thanks to this thread starter.

driving those fucking hummers from your million dollar home into downtown to do a little shopping.

49. I have yet to see anyone that needs a Hummer.
In fact, I know very few people that need a utility vehicle.

I used to drive a van and thought I needed the space for all of my equipment. With some reorganization, I'm able to fit everything in a Matrix. Perhaps once a year, I find it would be nice to have a larger vehicle.

I don't laugh at anyone that drives a large vehicle but rather shake my head. They are either being screwed for needing a large vehicle or screwing all of us for wanting a large vehicle. It's not funny, but sad.

52. SUV owners also raise insurance rates for small car drivers.
I don't laugh or shake my head, I flip those fuckers off. Especially when I see them floor it when the light turns green, or when they don't check their gawd damned blind spot when changing lanes. I was almost forced into oncoming traffic just last week by some oblivious asshole in a Suburban.

53. i had a minivan for years--hated being the cliche suburban mom
but i was carting my daughter and friends around and i needed the passenger room. i was so glad to have been able to dump that piece of crap!

it kills me to see the suburbanites in these GIGANTIC SUVS and when they park and get out they have one child with them--or they are by themselves.

it's status shit the makes me crazy!

54. Lets all laugh
at the poor slob who lost his job and life savings, his house and dignity paying $75.00 to fill his truck tank so he can go look for any work he can find.
I'm just laughing my ass off!!

55. I like to laugh at the dumbasses who work in my building...
and park their SUV's in the parking structure after driving to work ALONE. Mostly I want to tell them they are using more than their fair share of gasoline. Not one of them is a 'working' truck... too sparkling clean... even the 4x4's are without dirt, inside, outside, or underneath where you would expect to see some.

I feel badly for people who bought or were given a used, hand-me-down SUV, and cannot afford to buy something else, and cannot afford to drive what they have.

57. How do you know they drive ALONE. I leave my house to pick up my
carpool partner cuz her house is on the way to the freeway. How do you know they don't go to the fuckin PARK AND RIDE?

I'm glad you know all that people do. So you can judge them and condemn them as fucking GUILTY.

56. It's not the size of the engine, it's the size of the load

We need to take a few tips from third-world countries. Hell, that Prius you're driving could probably haul 10 men and their supplies if you pack it just right.
