This will be my last peek ever at Newsweak for as long as Rove has a forum there, I promise you. Our subscription just lapsed and I threw away the most recent renewal card. The next renewal card gets taped to a brick and returned with a suitable message (idea from Abbie Hoffman in Steal This Book).

Title: "How to Beat Hillary (Next) November"

Author: Who the fuck really knows?

Byline (which doesn't mean squat): Karl Rove

1. At least he's admitting that Hillary is his "dream" Dem candidate

She's the only one the Repubs have a CHANCE of beating--or failing that, the best chance of influencing through her DLC/lobbyist ties.

4. I didn't see it that way.

He only said that he thinks she will be the nominee--different angle.

Whatever--Rove's column was very predictable, almost what was predicted in my own last OP (if I may toot my own horn for a second):

"Rove’s drivel will be so predictable, and so similar to all the right wing garbage we have been served by you up to now, that his ramblings won’t be any more informative (or interesting) than one more drop of guano on a Galápagos island."

Sure enough, that's exactly what it was. Emphasize that Iraq and the war on terror (notice how he bases his arguments on the old RW fantasy that they are the same thing) are going well, blah, blah, blah.

In other words, he is telling the Republican nominee to lie his fool head off, as usual.

So, what else is new Karl? Is THAT all you have to offer for your first Newsweek column? A
thinly disguised ad for No-Doz?

2. Kos should write an article about Plamegate.
That's "fair game," isn't it?

10. I'm just amazed at the magazines logic
We hire someone to write the truth so we have to hire someone who will write falsehoods for BALANCE.

11. Exactly.
I'm waiting for them to hire someone from the Flat Earth Society to dispute every use of the terms "around the world" or "global warming" ...

5. By all means, read. This is useful information.
Goopers take this man seriously, after all.

And after you're done wretching and heaving and hating yourself for the exposure to the ugliness, make sure to read the comments.

my favorite so far:

Why doesn't Rove talk about what REALLY needs to be done to beat Hilary? Unleash anonymous attack groups to run "issue" ads that blatantly lie and spread gossip and false inuendo about the candidates. Commission groups to do "push poll" phone calls. Put officials from your party in charge of falsely and illegally purging legitimate voters from voting lists, use "caging" lists to disenfranchise military members who's ethnic and economic backgrounds make them more likely to vote Democratic, and have your smears distributed and rehearsed by top political operatives in the Republican party for constant, rehearsed repetition on mainstream media argument shows. Be ready to cry about "liberal bias" if anyone insists on trying to make someone verify facts or speak genuinely about the issues.

6. A GOP agitator spouting GOP propaganda isn't very useful.
Rove should be telling us how to beat the Republican candidate next November.
