FBI Reports Upsurge In Hate Crimes
Incidents Rose 8% In 2006; Race Continues To Account For More Than Half Of Reported Cases

Hate crime incidents in the United States rose last year by almost 8 percent, the FBI reported Monday, as racial prejudice continued to account for more than half the reported instances.

Police across the nation reported 7,722 criminal incidents in 2006 targeting victims or property as a result of prejudice against a particular race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnic or national origin or physical or mental disability.

That was up 7.8 percent from the 7,163 incidents reported in 2005.

More than half of the victims were targeted because of their race, said CBS News correspondent Stephanie Lambidakis, and almost 60 percent of all known offenders are white.

Heidi Beirick of the Southern Poverty Law Center says the numbers are probably higher than that.

"It's unfortunate that the numbers went up by almost 8 percent, but the truth is the FBI Hate Crimes statistics severely undercounts the number of hate crimes that we have in the United States every year," she told CBS News.

Creative counting. The American way, undercount hate crime incidents, problem solved. Redefined what hate is is.

1. It's a fertile time for an upsurge in hate crimes....
An administration that demonizes people, a crashing economy, immigration, Islamophobia, gay rights - it's the perfect maelstrom for hate.

6. It's the only part of trickle-down that is really supposed to work, anyway
Trickle-down hatred and frustration and acceptance of tyranny and dehumanization and of course increased violence against targeted sub-groups, who are all now compiled together in the racially-neutral pejorative "Liberals".

4. Thanks to Faux News and MSM
fear mongering--Dividing and Conquering Americans so we fight each other and not the real enemies of the state.

5. Wow. Who could have foreseen that this would happen?
Who could have foreseen that subjecting the radio to the kind of Am dial uniformity we see in the old Soviet Union (one morning while driving with a Bushie I found out the Rush Limoxycontinpedophileviagrabaugh was on the AM radio in SE PA on roughly five or six stations simultaneously.

Yes, I know AM has a longer range, but who could have foreseen than broadcasting 24/7 hate and dehumanization of enemies foreign and "domestic", barely concealed and just couch in the barest minimum amount of code so even the dumbest Bushie could figure it out...who could haqve forseen that twenty years of that could have resulted in more hate crimes towards the designated target groups?

Liberals, you got to say Liberals today, Cleetus. You cain't say N-words and Kikes and Queers no more, not in public. It's LIBERALS.

Yah, who could have foreseen it? :silly:

7. And the RW NOISE MACHINE yells, "BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!!! YES! BRAVO!!!"
People are being swayed by the RW fuckers' assertion that a bill specifically designed to address to HATRED is "bad". HR 1955 is NOT BAD! It threatens the hate-mongers.

9. The KKK had two periods of increasing membership: 1860s and 1910s
Not surprisingly, these periods of growth coincided with the two most staunchly segregationist presidencies in US history--Andrew Johnson and Woodrow Wilson. Leadership matters.
