Former anchor endorses Clinton
Former anchor endorses Clinton

Mon Nov 19, 11:10 AM ET

BOSTON - Carole Simpson, a former ABC news anchor who is now a journalism professor at Emerson College, is being criticized for endorsing Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton at a New Hampshire political rally.

Simpson said she immediately regretted her actions and offered her resignation the day after the rally last month, but Emerson officials refused to accept it.

"I know I made a mistake. It was definitely the wrong venue for my first foray into free speech," Simpson told The Boston Globe in Monday's editions. "But I'd really like to see her win. After being a reporter for so many years, where you wish you could do more than you can, it would be nice to make a difference."

Simpson is considering an offer from the Clinton camp to campaign for the candidate. She and university officials have agreed she will not teach political journalism courses if she campaigns for Clinton.

2. Me too. Pssst. For you folks that don't remember, she's black. HRC and Obama...
are really fighting for the black vote. I'm enjoying watching this battle. I hope something good comes of it for black voters.

3. Yes - I hope the truth about CIA drugrunning story gets fully understood

because black communities all over the country were TARGETED for the dumping of tons of cheap IranContra cocaine as part of Poppy Bush's illegal operations he was conducting throughout the 80s and 90s.

That report came out in 1996 and the Dem president at the time had no interest in allowing the documents to be obtained and was not facilitating access to documents as one would expect from a Democratic administration.

ALL the outstanding matters in IranContra, Iraqgate, BCCI and CIA drugrunning were deep-sixed throughout the 90s to protect the secrecy and privilege of Poppy Bush.

When it comes right down to it, I expect the Clintons will once again side with the secrecy and privilege of the Bushes over the rights of the citizens to honest and open government, and in the black community, a right to live WITHOUT being targeted for destruction by illegal operations like Poppy Bush's. Webb's 1996 report should have brought justice to this story - instead, it was Webb targeted for a takedown by official DC. Disgusting.

4. If HRC wins, maybe Carole will be tapped to be her press secretary?

I think she has the credentials and the credibility.

FWIW, I don't see what the big fuss is over Simpson's endorsement. Now, if she were still sitting in the anchor seat, I would agree there was a conflict of interest and not good jouralistic professionalism. But she's a free agent now and she can endorse anyone she wants to endorse.

7. Wasn't she the moderator at the 1992 "Town Hall" Debate?
I can't imagine that she's the only journalism professor or whatever she is to endorse a candidate.
