McClellan’s tell-all implicates Bush in Plame scandal
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/11/20/mcclellans-tell-all-implicates-bush-in-plame-scandal/

Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan will publish a memoir in April titled “What Happened.” In an excerpt posted by his publisher, McClellan implicates “the President himself” in the Valerie Plame scandal:

“The most powerful leader in the world had called upon me to speak on his behalf and help restore credibility he lost amid the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. So I stood at the White house briefing room podium in front of the glare of the klieg lights for the better part of two weeks and publicly exonerated two of the senior-most aides in the White House: Karl Rove and Scooter Libby.

“There was one problem. It was not true.

“I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the vice President, the President’s chief of staff, and the president himself.”

(end snip)

2. No chance. That's a limited hangout.
The current cover story depends on Bush, not Cheney, approving the outing of classified information (and thus inadvertently outing the status of Plame).

Don't be fooled. Scottie had absolutely nothing to do with writing this book. He was hired to disseminate the official line of the Bush White House. That will never change.

4. Absolutely. No way this is / will become a "smoking gun". It's all a show.
When I say it's "all" a show - I mean literally that - EVERYTHING YOU HEAR/READ FROM THEIR SIDE IS SCRIPTED. There are no "rouges" releasing information otherwise "unapproved". Theirs is a TOP DOWN system, and the CONCEPT of someone ON THEIR OWN SIDE coming out with information which points the finger ISN'T DONE. EVER.

Haven't you learned that (not the poster I'm replying to but others)?

There is NO WAY this book is going through a MAJOR CORPORATE PUBLISHER (as opposed to "Newsmax" publications), being vetted by their LEGAL department, not to mention national security agencies, et. al. and everything in this book not being part of some pre-approved narrative....

He will get on all of the talk shows. Damn, you write a book about birds and you get on the Daily Show.

He will be quoted in and out of context until we're all tired of hearing it and it will go away...

I don't know the ins and out of this case. I don't have to. As I'm not preparing a legal case, it's easy for me to see the truth of what happened. The SUGGESTION that Plame was outted without the FULL KNOWLEDGE of Bush AND Cheney IN ADVANCE is LAUGHABLE. To the rest of you requiring video tape, I feel sorry for you because you're never gonna get it.

That's what I meant to say, but I didn't want to do the typing.

if they come clean after the fact all is well. Jump in the scum pond with Powell, Tenet and the others.

Make a buck or two on a book and hope your 'confession' keeps history from marking you as a traitor.
