Can we make Thanksgiving a military holilday?
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 11:03 AM by underpants
While reading this drivel on Slate ("Is Thanksgiving a religous holiday?")
http://www.slate.com/id/2178076/

It struck me that since it is just so damned easy to scale this particular mountain and pitch your flag why not make this one a military holiday too? I mean we only have Veterans Day and Memorial Day and hell they basically have turned the 4th of July from a celebration of liberty and freedom of the people into yet another glorification of the only real purpose of our nation-to feed military contractors.

Hell why not. Lets have us some monuments to Myles Standish and let his raid serve as the perfect illustration of what is right and wrong and our priorities.

:sarcasm:

1. Not just "NO", but "HELL NO"!
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday... it's the ONLY one they haven't been able to exploit & overcommercialize...

I am happy with our two holidays. I think most of us are.

6. Don't want me no Jesus and no Mars.
A little less militarism please, oh and don't bother passing me the religion plate either.

Eat up. Thanskgiving is the people's harvest festival, always has been, always will be. I don't care what the fucknutz claim about it.

7. It was made a National Holiday
to "give thanks" for the new Constitution. (Nov 26 1789)

9. As I said: harvest festival.
The fucknutz who claim to be in charge can do anything they want, obviously, and most of what they do is pretty sick shit. You can choose to pay attention to them. I choose to ignore as much of what they do and say as I can. For example: I really do not care at all what they think thanksgiving is.
