Constituents asking Reps about Cheney impeachment

DRYDEN — At his latest “Congressman on your Corner” event on Saturday, U.S. Rep. Michael A. Arcuri, D-24th Dist., said only a few words before taking questions from the crowd of close to 50 residents.

His constituents who gathered at Dryden's town hall had a lot to say to the first-term representative.

While most people in attendance praised Arcuri's voting record in the House of Representatives, others took issue with his refusal to vote for a bill to impeach vice president Dick Cheney.
“It's incumbent upon you to aggressively pursue impeachment,” said Freeville resident Lynn McMannis. “If we don't hold (the Bush administration) to account, our democracy will go down the drain.”

Arcuri defended his vote by recalling his days as a district attorney and said that any impeachment attempts would bring the Legislature and the country to a halt.

“I don't think that impeaching the vice president is the best decision,” he said. “I don't think the country can afford to go through with it.”

A friendly crowd greeted Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, in American Canyon Monday night as the lawmaker came to his home district for a conversation with voters about issues ranging from the war in Iraq to education and immigration.

...

Commenting on the goal of left-wing members of the Democratic Party, he said impeaching Vice President Dick Cheney would be a divisive move that would grind Congress to a halt and unite Republicans.

can we afford another invasion Representative, and why should it unite Republicans it will unite the American people with those who pursue this action.

and this comment are the Dems more worried about the Republicans image or the American people.

2. You mean Congress can't multi-task?
Rep. Arcuri seems to be saying that.

And, our country went on just fine during the Clinton "impeachment" fiasco. Just because a Republican run Congress could only focus on one thing doesn't mean Democrats can't multi-task.

3. Keep contacting your officials-NGU, and remind them they work for US
and that our Constitution has been attacked by criminals, traitors and domestic enemies of The United States of America like Richard B. Cheney et.al.

Any official that ignores their duty to our Constitution (which is US-we, the people) is complicit in a criminal conspiracy.

Just state that over and over and over w/o provocation and don't get distracted.

I've actually been educating some Congressional staffers and have gotten some favorable responses from them-it isn't radical to insist that we, the people decide what and how our Constitution is interpreted-not it's domestic enemies regardless of the offices or positions they occupy.
