I know that Food Bank reserves are depleted nationwide, but that number is staggering.

Other reports are that Food Banks are down average of 35% this year.

They said the economy is not only swelling the ranks of those looking for food assistance, but is affecting those who normally give to the Food Banks.

THis is a crisis.

2. I am not sure if it is the same in every state, but in NC you can give it directly to the Food Bank.

3. We're having drives at our church (in DE) because Wilmington's
food bank is running low. I don't know exactly how low. The LDS just came around last night to pick up a few bags of groceries for the Newark food bank.

5. Our Church collects food once a month and helps deliver food ....
People take a paper grocery bag home from their car windshield on the next to last Sunday in the month and bring it back filled the last Sunday, place it behind their car bumper and it is picked up before they leave. Rather efficient and easy way to contribute.

I am afraid the situation is going to get worse before it gets better.

4. Local NPR station reported
that some people are stopping by the food banks on their way to work. Even people with work can't afford to pay for food. Shelter in NYC is incredibly expensive.
