Was Novak's Source a Democratic Superdelegate?
A lot of primary voters don't understand the role that elected Democratic officials play in the nominating process.

So-called "unpledged delegates," or "superdelegates" can make a critical difference in a close nomination race.

As some party insiders rush to squelch the Novak story, it is worth asking: is it totally implausible that the source was an as-yet-undeclared superdelegate?

Here's the scenario:

1. Someone acting for the Clinton campaign approaches said superdelegate, making insinuations about material that was found but that won't be used in the primary.

2. Said superdelegate conceals his/her angry reaction, feigns interest to draw the agent out further, and then calls Novak.

3. Why in the world would an elected party official call Novak?!?

4. Because the agent severely misjudged his/her receptivity to the innuendo, and/or to announcing support for Senator Clinton.

5. That Would Be an Ideal...
... end to the story: Novak and Rove, in one neat package.

However, I think Novak's evil is matched by his self-preserving intellect. I'd wager he has a second act on this story.

9. Very well could.
I despise his existence though after what he did to Plame and her associates.

10. Amen ...
... the collateral damage he did included pitting the First Amendment against national security, and the consequences are still playing out, as journalists and whistleblowers scramble to figure out the new boundaries.

7. I Despise Novak...
... and wouldn't have a beer with him.

But the superdelegates list includes some folks who may well be: (1) misjudged as persuadable for Clinton by her campaign; and (2) eager to help their secret pick.

All's fair in love and primaries.

11. I said it is MOST likely Novak made it up himself. Meaning at least 51% likely.
Although I would put the probability at around 80%.

3. This is where the
winner truely hails. The Primaries can be wiped clean at the convention by the Super Delegates.
