In reading up on old threads, I came across this one that is quite interesting:

So, I decided to sign up. It took me 2 minutes and now my computer is folding for the DU team.

The Freepers have a team, and they're way ahead of us (at #52). We need a couple of hundred DUers to get on board with all the CPUs they can muster.

13. With new DU members we can break into the Top 100

in a couple of months

14. I'm about ready to send in another WU. I bought a new computer

in mid Oct and since then I have moved up about 100 positions. It's not some powerhouse, it's a Mac Mini.

17. Ah, Thank You!

I just got a top o' the line PC and realized that I could FINALLY run the folding@home app.

And I was wondering about the DU group. I've been running it about a week. Can I donate my time to the existing DU Group?

18. I have (re)joined.

Username is strategery_blunder1 (was strategery blunder before).

I had done it last year for a couple of months, but then I started having HD problems, and FaH exacerbated them because it constantly runs. However, I have a new computer that's only five months old now so I shouldn't have those problems for a while.

I will, however, have to keep a closer eye on Firefox's memory usage. Thank you for reminding me of this :)

22. Both me and the hubby have been folding for over a year

I started back when it was first suggested. I've lost family and loved ones to cancer so this feels like the right thing to do. I also have several friends with family members who have relatives who have Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. I'm doing this for them as well.

to do a WU. Now it it takes three days at the most.
