He has the best chance of winning the election, and he will not be compliant to Corporate America like the other two front runners.

29. Until I hear otherwise ...
... YES, Edwards gets my vote. And imagine how perfect it'll be when Edwards announces that Gore has agreed to sign on as VP , concentrating solely on the Environment.

There's your winning ticket. The undemanding, largely ceremonial position of VP will allow Gore all the time and energy he wants to concentrate on Global Warming. There's power in that position, should one want it (look at Cheney). My latest "Hail Mary" prediction is an announcement after the NH Environmental debate ( chaired by Gore ) and before Iowa.

Who says I'm not thinking outside the box?( Plus that means President Gore in 2016, should he want it. )

36. A former DLCer & Bilderberger
that co-sponsored and voted for the IWR, as well as the bankruptcy bill, the Patriot Act, Yucca Mtn, to exempt fuel refiners from liability and against regulation of drinking water, doesn't sound like what America needs at this dangerous and critical time.

During his one and only time in office he accomplished very little, w/the exception of running for president.

Watch what they do, not what they say.

66. There was nothing condescending about my tone
I was stating facts. Documented facts.

It is interesting, though, that you feel comfortable voting for a man that co-sponsored us into the genocide of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis as well as the deaths of almost 4,000 U.S. troops.

To each their own, eh?

90. You'd stand a better chance of influencing people...
...if you showed a bit more tact, rather than condescending, self-righteous rudeness.

For years now, you've been berating people for their choices in candidates. I experienced that a few years ago when I supported Clark and you came out of nowhere to rip me to shreds.

Well, the fact that I now support a candidate you can't stand shows that I indeed made the right decision. So thanks Pastiche, for helping me to cement my own decision. I'm supporting Edwards, so nya nya!

44. K & R
I almost started an identical thread last night. I've donated small amounts of money to Edwards a couple of times but I've been holding out for Gore before really committing to Edwards. I think I'm finally ready to accept that Gore isn't running. I'm disappointed, but I really like Edwards and I think he will be a great president. I also think he's our best chance of winning the general election.

Bogus heroes hide out and count their medals and honors and tell themselves how great they are, even though they won't put their money where their mouth is when it is truly needed.

the bill Gore pushed through so fervently. I'm all for Edwards, and hope Gore sticks to fighting for the environment. Gore would be great as the Dept. of Energy chair. Windmills and solar panels as far as the eye can see.
Cheers,
-Binkles

88. I have to say, I'm with you

I was also hoping for Gore, and figured he would be the best person in the race. But he isn't running.

Looking at the other candidates, I don't like Hillary, since I see her as merely a shrill corporate suck-up who only says things that she thinks people want to hear. Very cold. Seems more like a repeat of Bush than Bill. Not appealing to me at all. Hey, I'd love to see a woman as president. Just not this one.

Obama is okay, but his inexperience shows. If he gets the nom, he'll get slaughtered in the general election.

Gravel is probably the most appealing, but he doesn't stand a chance.

Kucinich seems like he's pandering too much to his base. Are we going to get another impeachment resolution every month? I wish he would use his Congressional role to actually move this country forward instead of engaging in partisan wars. In reality, it's time to start fixing things. Flame away, but I see nothing but bad things for our side coming out of a drawn-out impeachment. It will backfire miserably.

Dodd is saying all the right things, but is he too much of an insider? Same with Biden.

Richardson lost any chance of my support with his crazy idea about siphoning Great Lakes water for the overcrowded Southwest. Hey, I have no sympathy for the hordes that abandoned the Midwest to live in a part of the country that HAS NO WATER! That's their problem. They want water? Tell 'em to suffer through four month of winter like I do.

And that leaves Edwards, and I have to say, I like him. Took me a long time to decide on a candidate, but so far he's at the top of my list. Much more straightforward and appealing than in 2004. And he probably has the best chance of winning in a general election. He did vote for the Patriot Act, but he's been clear as to his reasons for doing so, much more than others, and I kind of understand. Not overly comfortable with it, but nobody's perfect.

And the clincher? Edwards will win red states. Clinton and Obama won't.

I actually think Edwards will surprise in the primaries, ala Kerry, and get the nomination. I just can't see Clinton or Obama getting it.

92. Edwards is for the people, he is the only one who is for almost everything I
believe, including Kucinich.

Now is the time to be really careful and pick a president for us, the people. We need to look at what they are saying and how they are voting. Voting for the bankruptcy bill, voting for free trade bill(ex Peru), voting for supreme court judges, and voting for this war (and maybe another) matter to me. If they can't stand behind their own voting record and consider it is mudslinging, it matters to me.

Saying they were wrong matters. Willing to fight for the presidency and not give up really matters.

Being rich and able to buy $400 hair cut DOES NOT matter, it is how you treat the little people.

Top all this off with - I will not vote for anyone the media and gop has pushed upon us for well over a year. Beside, I do not vote for someone just because a poll says they are in 1st place - if I did, why vote they already won.

93. Ive been for JE from the beginning, where's Nadar???...
Alot of things worry me. Seemingly, I say SEEMINGLY Edwards not having much of a chance at the nomination, when I KNOW he's the one, he's def. the one. I've been telling my husband for so long now; every time we see him speak, I get so so frustrated, banging my fist saying 'this is the guy', knowing in my heart he doesn't have much of a chance with the political machine of Hillary. But she seems to be losing ground to Obama now.

And Elizabeth is a HERO to me; she's brilliant, isn't afraid to tell is like it is, telling Coultergeist off and we are sisters under the skin, sharing breast cancer and so far surviving it.

And of COURSE there's the "every four year appearance" of Nadar. What does he DO between election cycles?? He's GOT to make his showing any day now, no? He's gonna screw everything up again. Won't he? Or maybe I'm so jaded now. Who knows. ugh.

94. When Edwards WINS IOWA People Will Sit Up And Take Notice...
There is an effort to 'marginalize' Edwards as a candidate, claiming 'national polls of Democrats' give Hillary a commanding lead.

However, Edwards knows Iowa and its caucus characteristics better than any of the other candidates. He also has a ground operation in Iowa second to none. Plus he has held his tv/media advertising within the state of Iowa until the last couple of weeks, building momentum to crest at the caucuses.

Edwards and his strategists are executing a detailed and specific plan in Iowa that will give him momentum heading to New Hampshire five(5) days later.

Because of the short time between Iowa and New Hampshire, the winner in Iowa will have a tremendous advantage since there won't be time to wage a weeks long 'rehabilitation' effort for Iowa also-rans.

97. Edwards Supporters Make Up 75% of Precinct Chairs in Iowa... telling statistic...
Edwards was first to set up a steering committee in all 99 counties in Iowa.

Edwards not only visited all 99 counties in Iowa, he took questions and answers in each county no matter how small the group.

Edwards visited rural areas of Iowa that have never been visited by a Presidential Candidate in the past, including predominantly Repub leaning areas.

Edwards supports fit demographically into the the group 'most likely to actually show up and caucus'

Edwards has provided financial support, computers, and access to political advice for local Iowan Democrats to run their campaigns on the local level since early in the 2004 election cycle.

The Iowa Independent Democratic Power Rankings gave Edwards the nod if the caucuses were held today.

The Edwards people know exactly what they doing in Iowa, and so far Hillary and Obama combined have run close to $9 mil in tv/media ads and yet all 3 are still in the MOE in polls on the ground in Iowa.

101. I ma in the House for Edwards!! thanks helderheid ..i too had hoped for Gore but
now i am a bit put off by Gore..all around..i just returned from London and in the paper there, there was an article that said Gore was going to a climate conference and he was going to be paid $ 300,000. + bucks...so much that the British had to eliminate a climate expert because they were paying Gore so much to Attend...it made me sick...

I guess i was fooled...i will admit that here and now..

i have held off giving Big bucks to anyone until now..( i have given small amounts to Edwards and one to Dodd)..now i will go all Out for Edwards, because he is the only one standing i believe in...that i know can and should be our president..and that i can proudly support.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOO Edwards..........

Oh and I love Elizabeth...I just adore and admire her!! I will be thrilled to see her each and every day as our First Lady..it will make me proud as a woman, that that strong lady is our first lady!!

GOOOOOOOOOOO Edwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

107. That's the way I've been thinking for a long time.
I'm hoping that Edwards is truly aligned with the people, and realizes the dangers of corporate personhood which leads to corporatism, the bane of our democracy.

But I'm in Florida, so my vote won't count.

108. I'm there. I was collecting signatures to put Gore on
the California ballot. After his people told us to stop, I did so reluctantly.

Heard all the candidates @ the CDP convention last spring. Edwards, and to my surprize anyway, Richardson, were the only 2 that that caught my attention. Took my kids to the Truman dinner last month, where Edwards was the speaker. Both were impressed w/ him. My daughter was holding out for Gore. When I told her about the stop collecting signatures message, she was disappointed. So now this is an all Edwards house.

110. Question for Edwards supporters:
Seeing the post with the Edwards/Kerry photo made me wonder...

1. Do you think Kerry will endorse Edwards because of their past partnership?

2. If Kerry DOESN'T endorse Edwards but DOES endorse a different candidate, do you think that would affect support for Edwards?

Just curious -- no agenda here. Thanks.

111. 1) I don't think Kerry will endorse until just before the convention and a winner is obvious...
...and maybe not until the convention itself if it's not Edwards out of consideration for him.

2) See number one and I doubt it.
