It has been 1 year since I changed my signature line.... |

One year ago, NBC and others decided to call the Iraq war something we knew already existed, a civil war. Though you don't hear the phrase "civil war" all that often anymore in the MSM, let's review what has happened since the declaration:
- hundreds of US soldiers killed - thousands of US soldiers injured - tens of thousands of Iraqis killed and injured - billions of US dollars spent - 30,000 more troops in Iraq - Blackwater (and other "contractors") opening fire on Iraqi citizens - no reconciliation in the Iraqi government - Iraqi violence "down" to 2005 levels (still high) * at the cost of paying and arming former "al Qaeda in Iraq" insurgents to become "concerned citizens" militia * Baghdad has become the city of walls, and thus assisting in the ethnic divide * al-Sadr calling for a 6 month "truce" which is due to expire in a couple months - Congress still funding the war

2. And when is someone going to put a stop to it? |
|
Considering the reasons given for the war in the first place were all based on lies, one has to wonder why we continue to further such a horrendous mistake by remaining in Iraq. There is more to it than we know, and I suspect it's all about the oil.
Hopefully, someday we'll have people in government with the morals and ethics to look into the Bush misAdministration, and they will take the necessary steps to hold these crooks accountable for their actions. One thing is for certain: the people in government today do not have the morals and ethics to do this, we'll need to replace them to make it happen.

And the year after that will likely be see little difference. Wash, rise, repeat.
This is the war that never ends, It just goes on and on my friends Some assholes started fighting it, not knowing what they'd done, And they just kept on fighting it forever just because...
