What EVER happened to..."Don't Worry Be Happy?"
I'm sick and tired of living in this GOP pressure cooker powered by fear and more fear. Will America EVER "Be Happy" again, after BushCo gets done reaming us? Are we better off being SCARED than we were Being Happy? I think not.

I miss sanity and reason. I miss trust, freedom, liberty and pride in America...

14. They have tainted everything they have touched
and have had their sticky fingers in every pie. It's hard to "Make The Pie Higher" when you don't include the price of food in the inflation equation. Do GOPers...not eat? Or is it that the REpubs only need the shit that BundesBush Enterprises Inc. feeds them, to survive.

Bush must have learned everything he knows about reality based ciphering and mathematics from a lad named Jethro and or Kenny Boy, I think. Nothing the GOP ever says adds up. Pure old Bushit is their A game.

2. I guess you have to be in the right 'fund' to be happy
I never saw so few make so much in all my life. It is like what one reads about 1929 before it all came down. I do not think like this as a general thing but with all these very poor people in all these rich oil states I am feeling their pain. I will tell you thing that after 6 years of doing very poor my retirement stock fund has finally started to pay like it did for the 8 years under Clinton. I wonder what that means? Not that I can ever make up for the 6 years it was so bad.

7. Part of the dumbing down of America?
"Don't Worry Be Happy"...as in just sit tight, trust us and we'll take care of it! The new GOP message..."Be Afraid...Be VERY Afraid!" Rudy would be like BushCo x 10 on the fear thing. The GOP uses fear like your snake oil preachers have for years. There is always a handy new "Devil" around somewhere that the ruling class can use to keep the flock in a state of panic. Stampeding the human herd in the most profitable direction is what the GOPer's bosses are all about.

8. that song came out in the 80's, and was used as an anthem hammer to mock those of us
who were appalled at the way Ray-Gun ran this country -- caused a recession, heated up the WoD, created Zero tolerance, kept his dirty little wars in Latin America, started knocking down the wall between Church and State -- much like today, wages were stagnant and jobs were scarce. People with college degrees were waiting tables and bar tending because the job market sucked...oh yeah, and there was the Savings and Loan fraud that cost us dearly.

But, hey, don't worry, be happy, right?

I actually lost a great deal of respect for Robin Williams for making that video. It was a slap in the face to people who were trying to maintain our republic in the early days of fascist 'Murika. No one listened. We were mocked and shunned and called malcontents by the yuppie scum.

Not surprisingly, it's those yuppie scum of yesteryear that are leading us down the road to a theocratic oligarchy.

Eventually this is all going to come crashing down, because a house of cards cannot survive even the slightest breeze. There is always a bill. Always. To think that six billion plus organisms can inhabit any environment without affecting change -- and further abusing it the way we do without expecting the equilibrium to offset -- is an exercise in ignoring reality, and in the end, will be the downfall of our country, and perhaps of the species.

I understand that this wasn't your intent, and that you're waxing fondly of the "good 'ol days". For me, I've lived more than half my life with a government I consider corrupt and hostile, who seems to enjoy causing the people who fund their paychecks endless amounts of grief.

The folks who were loudly signing "don't worry, be happy" back in the 80's are running Wall Street and the WH now, and it's all going to hell for those of us who have to work for a living.

At least the 80's were still affordable. I'm slowly being priced right out of the this new millennium. My civil liberties have been whittled down to nothing, taxes have increased while service has decreased, the bogus WoD and WoT are being used to drive the MIC and the private prison industry...and, oh yeah... everyday my tax dollars are being used to kill people in foreign lands. Being a pacifist, this is something I find highly intolerable.

Okay, I'm going to stop here. Thanks for letting me rant. :hi:

12. Other than all that, I gather you are still fairly "happy"...
Just kidding...I'm a kidder!(in my second childhood, today)

But, I remember the Reagan years with about the same level of fondness and approval as you do...ZERO!

Lady Liberty will forever bear the scars of the first studio president, Ronnie Reagan. Now Bush and company have mocked, shackled, cheapened and shamed the once elegant symbol of America's goodness and fairness.

Compassionate Conservatism is an oxymoron that has produced a total moron.

I still almost lose my groceries at the sight of Reagan on TV. He won his chickenhawk wings in "dogfights" over Broadway...like bush and Rudy.

The new Reich Wing is even better at their well oiled propaganda game than the nasty folks who invented it.

Respect, Courage, Reason, Sanity, and Common Sense...

Wha gets me is those Pubs think they can win/keep the Oval Office....

The GOP is pulling out all stops in order to pull this one outta the hat...Lie Cheat Steal is their Standard but now they also got Swift Boating, Smearing, Trolling, Steering, Spying, Infiltrating, Psyops, Brainwashing, etc

They even have some of their peeps run in elections as DEMOCRATs....Carl Sheeler was one of them 2 years ago...some DUers even contributed to him....

The GOP has lost the Respect and Trust of America....thats what I see....

Edited on Wed Nov-28-07 07:20 AM by Hubert Flottz
threw my vote in the trash in 2000. I was a little bit glad when congress changed hands, but that hasn't helped much it would seem. We need to get 60 votes in the Senate and a democrat in the White House to even think of helping our fast sinking country. The GOPer parasites and cronies have sucked it dry in the name of "COMPASSION"! COMPASSION...FOR WHO? I ain't seen any "COMPASSION" yet out of BundesBush or Cheney. All I've seen out of them is calamity, gloom and doom. Hope is quickly becoming extinct in America, for all but the horridly misinformed 40%...

If I was going to "SEND A MESSAGE" to the outside world mine would probably be something like S-O-S!

Years ago folks looked down on a guy who wanted to "Escape Reality," now they make guys like that pResidents!

The GOP quality control crew is STILL batting WAY below zero this election it looks like to me!

18. Hillary needs to do like the pubs and blame all those farts on the
dog. The GOPers are the party of total perfection, to hear them tell it. A whole half country made up of people just like JC, who could do no wrong. They are so far above farting it ain't funny, because they never crap...they're all plum full of it! They even talk shit 24/7!

WELL...I'm sick of their SHIT! And when you're completely and 100%, sick of a repub's shit, then I calculate that you are completely and 100%, sick of that particular republican. And since the little bastids never break ranks on ANYTHING...if you've smelt one you've smelt about all of them.

Blue is an easy color for me to recall on election day, because I just think of all the things the country had going for it a few years ago and my mood shifts to the blue side of the spectrum about as far as it can shift. I hate what these self-serving liars and crooks have done to our grandchildren's country.

GOP = ("Gospel" On Parade)(look on their sleazy sleeves, but expect the "Gospel" according to the uberBush)

Best damned idea I've heard all day! Numb the old noodle to ease the stress!

America has reached Critical Mess and I don't think she'll take much more! Bushie's control rod is not working so good anymore. Too many fake lerts and the peeps have wised up to the bastids scaring America just so they can change the subject or score political points. Everybody in the world knows by now, that Bush is a habitual liar and an outlaw nutcase!

16. trust, freedom, pride - people values
What is so disconcerting to me, and so disappointing, is that the human values - truly the spirit of freedom in America - are gone.
This has become a nation of weak-kneed, if not well-healed, followers. Leadership is sorely lacking. The great values listed by Hubert Flottz were the traditional and distinguishing American values. They were borne from an innate distrust of rulers and a strongly forged sense of exploration - in both the territorial sense and the philosophical. Trust (formally,in our spirit!), freedom, liberty, and pride.
We have surrendered it seems; to the cheap trappings of our past success as a nation - commercial comforts, an "elected" government that we are duped into thinking we installed. Government by and for the people? What the heck is that?? I would bet that many Americans think that phrase belongs to some old Soviet socialist country rather than their own.
There are numerous examples, many of which have been well-documented on these pages. Even last nights news had yet another: The major networks showed the fuhrer as some ersatz "peace-maker" standing between Ehud Olmert and Mahmoud Abbas. Only on Countdown did we get the real story - the moron-in-chief showed up long enough for the photo-op and proved his utter ignorance by mangling the names of the two gentlemen standing next to him!
Bottom line: Most Americans just don't give a shit. Perhaps when the milk stops coming, they will.

22. We will not see that America in our lifetimes, Hubert
If the Bushies manage to pull off a Caesar instead of just a Hitler, then it is a certainty.

Sen. Clinton, if she is allowed to ascend the Throne of Amerika, will give us a short rest between the Middle and Penultimate Phases of our transition to BushPutinism, and this is to be much hoped for.

But it will just be a pause before the end, this I now see very clearly.

Those things we miss, like Jews in 1937 Germany, will never be laid eyes on by us again. Others may save America, but it is now also clear that we will have to follow the Bushie Plan to the end (because no one has the guts to stop it now before it's too late) and come out the other side in freedom.

12 years, that's what Hitler had, and very few lived Free Germans lived to see his downfall.

The Caesars, once they crushed Rome's anachronistic Republic under their heels, NEVER allowed freedom (relatively speaking) again. 450 years of Bushies. A few Good Bushie Emperors, mostly horrific Bushie Emperors.

Unfortuately, while the Nazi Analogy is more apt because of their use of modern propaganda and psychology, the Roman Analogy is more likely to be apt inthe long run.

Sorry, Hubert, but that's the way I see it. I hope I am wrong.

25. "that's the way I see it"
Me too, but I just hate to admit it out loud.

All the bad signs are there, but our corporate owned TV misleaders sugar coat the sad truths, so much so that most folks don't have a clue, just how close we are to losing everything the founders ever hoped and dreamed of for our country.

We are being LED to the edge of the cliff, by our sElected misleader-leaders. The SCOTUS has foolishly, selfishly, all but destroyed democracy in America, because they unlawfully chose our leader, instead of letting the people's choice stand.

Our already fragile democracy was finally thwarted in America, by shortsighted, evil, greedy, criminal, fools, on 12/12/2000. Here's how...
