...

There has been much debate in Canada after a 40-year-old Polish man died last month after he was 'tasered' by police. Another 36-year-old man died Saturday five days after an altercation with police who used a Taser to subdue him....

Amnesty International has said there have been about 300 deaths around the world after Taser use and has called for it to be suspended while a full investigation into the impact is conducted....

Taser says its device "saves lives" because it is an effective alternative to a real gun. Each stun round is videod by a camera on the gun for future evidence.

Di Zazzo's French company is also developing a mini-flying saucer like drone which could also fire Taser stun rounds on criminal suspects or rioting crowds. He expects it to be launched next year and to be sold internationally by Taser.

...a mini-flying saucer like drone which could also fire Taser stun rounds on... rioting crowds. !!??

Hello? :wtf:

7. Maybe pool our resources and buy one...
...program the thing for 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and turn it loose. Fun for the whole family.

4. It's right outta an episode of the Sci-Fi series Dark Angel
Up to now, I thought that series was pretty silly. Now.... not so much.

16. yeah I remember that one
They had an episode with a killer hoverdrone. Just give the drone a picture of anyone and it went out and "hunted" your ass. Couser Jessica Alba was able to kill it....

3. I'm developing a bunch of dirigible drones that string up a big net
just ahead of protesters. The dirigible drones will prevent the flying saucer drones with tasers from bombing London, err, sapping patriotic citizens doing their duty to serve the country by opposing domestic terrorists in business suits, pretending to be leaders.

Wanna invest? Gonna be HUGE!

8. I wonder if they'll be armor-plated
Bet a twelve-gauge would turn it into an expensive piece of ventilated junk that formerly flew.

13. Not likely to be armor plated.
Too heavy to fly.

15.  I think shooting these out of the sky would be fun.
Edited on Thu Nov-29-07 02:47 AM by tjwash
I never became a hunter, because killing animals for fun seemed wrong to me, but hot damn--drone hunting does not raise any personal ethical dilemma, and I could look forward to the start of that season...

18. "Pull!"

I wonder what the range of the taser would be?
If it's similar to the handgun models then it would be low enough to hit
without needing any (potentially illegal) weapons ... just a stone ...

On the other hand, although the first person might get tasered, the people
on either side of him could grab the wires and haul it down for a damn good
kicking ...

23. You can also use those potato bazookas that you can make out of PVC pipe
Might want to steer away from bullets, just so you don't hit one of you fellow protesters with the downward arc of the bullet if you miss. Buckshot or bird shot would work too, and be safer then a bullet.

25. Well yeah but, isn't that destruction of gov't property?
Some dingus got caught the other day shooting @ cameras monitoring intersections. It's a pretty serious charge.
We the People somehow acquiesced to being monitored by the gov't once we awake from sleep.

21. Flying tasers? I want one for X-mas!
I'm sure the cops have first dibs, but 10 years from now, everyone will be able to afford the one made in China. It'll be strictly a desk-top paperweight, what with the lead and all.:P

24. Wasn't there something like this in John Carpenter's They Live?
Anti-establishment director John Carpenter intentionally had They Live released the same day the elder Bush was inaugurated in 88. For those unfamiliar with it, the movie depicts modern society that is secretly owned and controlled by aliens who embody the 'greed is good' republican ideal. Watch it with the brilliant Tim robbins mockumentary, Bob Roberts, as an entertaining yet informative double bill.
