CNN Headline News is positively dreadful.
Just back from a week in MX; the only news accessible that I could understand, besides logging on to the internets, was this schlock.
Anna Nicole topped all stories; the Congress and Iraq war got only cursory mentions. I heard no mention of any casualties at all. In fact, one talking head actually asked who cared about Congress when there was ANS to concentrate on-I kid you not.
That uncle who brought his child and nephew to Hooters and got drunk was really popular, as was the elephant that charged the van in Sri Lanka.
Instead of commercials in MX, we were entertained with non-stop weather. In many cases, the length of time weather was covered topped the length of time for 'news' stories.
Then there's Glen Beck and Nancy Grace for evening 'infotainment'. I actually had a German ask me if Beck's opinions were the prevailing wisdom in the US.
I can't get over how horrible it all was. Who the hell is their audience besides unsuspecting Americans and the occasional person who speaks English?
I definitely saw more real news on Spanish TV, though can't understand much of it.
I am convinced CNN is just one big lazy ass entity. What audience are they targeting? I couldn't figure it out and am thankful I don't have to.

Anyway, it's good to be home, and I will forever appreciate the bit of truth we do get here versus the shit that is spewed on that channel. I missed my DU, KO, and also thank everyone for the hearts! I missed that, too!

1. KO has been talking about ANS every night since she died.

Of course not as much every other news show. But enough to be annoying. I seriously ask...Who gives a fuck about ANS? Tragedy? Sure. But good lord is it not even in the top 10 with regards to any given event in Iraq.

16. I think it's one of those stories he has to cover
...because the PTB ordain it. They feel they have to pander to the lowest common denominator. It pulls ratings.

Given the chance, I'd bet KO would spend the entire hour on the maladministration if he could. And I'd watch every minute.

19. Yup.. Keith often makes mention that his celebrity
segment is forced on him. If that's what it takes to keep him on the air then bring on the dead and missing blonds for his last 5 minutes, the first 55 is worth every second.

2. Welcome home!
But, in MX, I always watch CNN-International....couldn't you get it? CNNI is a whole different perspective than CNN, and I enjoy it so much there.

5. No CNNI where we were staying unfortunately. I know that's a lot
better and while paying attention to news in the US, they cover all important international stories. At other destinations we do get CNNI and also like it; you could actually consider that a news channel. Not so headline.x(

20. Now, you know we are junkies, Babylonsister
when we go off to MX and have to have our political fix. I mean, we actually miss MSNBC and CNN! I go to a lovely little island in MX, and all of my amigos make fun of me because I have to check the news each and every day, whether by TV or by internet! Oh well, I guess we could have worse addictions.

7. I wonder if headline news would have covered it if a coup has happened
and the dim one was overthrown.:eyes:

15. Well...it's like when the Media could only talk about Gary Condit
and "9/11" happened. There's just a little too much Anna Nicole not to worry that something's about to happen.

Yes...MSM has been on "lock down" for two weeks now. Just Friday CNN had Blitzer in Las Vegas reporting about Brittany and Anna Nicole and some Basketball gays...while standing in front of the Casinos on the Strip.

You have to wonder what's up with that.

Welcome back...!

18. Wow. I didn't know that about Wolf in LV. I'm convinced it's all about
the ratings. The majority of people don't want to know about 'the news'. They prefer to be dumbed down, so that's what they're getting. Makes me so sad, and whores like Wolf do their bidding (though I imagine he wasn't too happy about it).

17. It's not lazy ass. This is intentional. Subtle propaganda.
More effective than the shrill Faux. Not lying to your face (all the time that is), but mostly hiding relevant news.
