Remember the "Thompson will win" / "FT is a stong candidate" / "I fear FT" threads a few months ago? |
|
All this Huckabee shit is FT part 2.
There is more to becoming a nominee or President than being folksy and talking about Jesus riding dinosaurs (ask Pat Robertson, who came in 2nd in Iowa in 1988). If Huckabee is able to bypass the massive number of fiscal conservatives who hate him (go read freerepublic if you don't believe me) and get the nomination, there is plenty of shit that plenty of Americans won't like about him.
He is no more of a "threat" than any of the other Repub candidates, imo. Though they would all be equally horrible for America, they all have their strengths and weaknesses as candidates.

5. Yep, I've been saying the same thing. What burns my butter is that |

people are so uninformed on here sometimes. They see someone briefly on TV, or read one article, and that's their entire impression of a candidate, and then they spout that uninformed opinion as fact on DU. There's a weird meme among progressives that Hucky is some sort of "nice, gentle" Republican who's "sincere". I can only assume they haven't heard the same things I have, or maybe these are the same folks who still hunger for the "compassionate conservatism" that they were promised 7 years ago. I had to do a lot of public education concerning Fred as well. Sigh--my work never ends.

6. We were expecting a better PERFORMANCE out of him, that's for sure. |

In another atmosphere he might have been able to pull it off, but Bushboy has really soured the citizenry to the jingoism and 'lines' that came with his reign.

7. Fred has really flopped,.... |
|
I'm suprised really. I figured his being a hack actor and a faux redneck, esentially the best of the Gipper and Dubya rolled into one, would make him a shoe in. Repubs normally eat that shit up.
