RedState.com upset with questioning at latest Republican debate
Interesting perspective on why little substantial exchange took place.

Harassing Republican candidates seemingly equates to questioning effectiveness of current military policy.
--

Dear RedState Reader:

RedState is calling for CNN to fire Sam Feist, their political director; and David Bohrman, Senior Vice President and Executive Producer of the debate.

During last night's debate, which CNN billed as "a Republican debate, and the goal was to let Republican voters see their candidates," CNN either knowingly or incompetently allowed hardcore left wing activists to plant questions and Anderson Cooper willingly gave one of those activists a soapbox so he could harass the Republican candidates about military policy.

Simple googling would have revealed these left wing activists.

Had CNN done its homework, this would not have happened. They either willfully let it happen, or incompetently bungled it. Either way, heads should roll.

Likewise, we hope one or more of the GOP Presidential candidates will call for a do-over debate on substantive policy issues.

You can read our Directors post here.

All the best,

Erick Erickson

1. Wow. Scary.
A Republican debate where the participants have to answer a planted question. Never mind that it was a valid question.

NO F*CKING FAIR!!!!

2. Bwahahahaha....
Ok, when we stop getting crap-ass debate material out of the right-wing media, then they can start complaining about the type of questions they get from ACTUAL VOTERS. Oy.

3. they should just hold their debate on
TNN, right after reruns of Hee Haw.

Then all the sane people would ignore it and they could ask them all the jeebus questions they want without being tainted by a gay soldier asking about a national policy affecting the careers of thousands of qualified military personnel - a policy that had us firing arab-speaking soldiers whose skills we desperately needed, because they "told."

5. Is it my imagination
...or not so long ago, weren't debates for the presidential candidates attended by Americans of any political persuasion? Are they now essentially closed with the candidates only fielding questions from party friendlies?

8. Poor, paranoid 'pubes....
I wonder if they'll start demanding loyalty oaths to people asking questions to their candidates? Does it occur to them that whoever is elected, will be President of ALL Americans and, as such, they need to be able to answer questions asked from anyone? As their numbers shrink, their need for insulation seems to be increasing.

9. They Rupukes all miss the main point here
What's really sad here is that political affiliation shouldn't change if it was a valid question that got asked or not. I mean are we going to be jumping all over people in the general election because, gasp, a democrat asked a damaging question to the republican presidential nominee! Shame on them, that democrat shouldn't be allowed to ask questions to someone who won't get their vote anyway!

This article written by Roger Simon at the politico shows all the correct reasons to attack the republican debate, not for the reason the repukes are now.

10. Oh for God sake. It was ONE QUESTION! If they didn't like that one
question, is that really a reason to castigate CNN executives? I didn't like the questions either, but it wasn't THAT QUESTION. It was that I don't feel there were any substantive questions asked during the whole 2 hours! Where were the questions about health care, the criminal behavior of the real estate lenders that caed the dramatic drop in housing prices and the stock market...questions that matter to ALL Americans? There's no way I believe out of the 5,000 questions submitted there weren't any questions on topics like that!

Not only Redstate.com should have a gripe here, we all should, but not about one old man who posed a ligitimate question, but who at CNN reviewed the questions and why they seemed to chose softballs, or mostly irrelivant ones?

11. There's no enthusiasm for their candidates, so they have to rile up the base with this garbage
Nothing gets the wingnuts frothing at the mouths quite like a good ol' fashioned Vast Liberal Media Conspiracy outrage circle-jerk.

12. He's Almost Right
Yep...the Repugnican candidates all came off like a bunch of out-of-touch asshats...and on display for millions to see. CNN couldn't cover that up if they wanted to...not with Huckleberry Hound beying the bible and Rudy doing the noun verb and 9/11 and Thompson barely able to stay awake. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence would see this not as a debate, but as a freak show. When Ron Paul is the best they've got and he got booed...this party has gone over the edge and good riddence.

I'm sure all 10 Redstate members will drag out the porta potty and make sure those heads roll at CNN :sarcasm:

13. their view of a proper society
is pretty much that of the witch burners at Salem and the Scarlet Letter folks

improper thought in others is not to be tolerated.

you put Jonathan Edwards* in charge, assign storm troops to exterminate all who offend your sensibilities and then life is good.
