What's with the fake deer? This has always bothered me..

We all pretty much know that the White House is not in the middle of a game preserve.. Why a deer? Why not a garden gnome? or a Troll? or a Gazing ball? or nothing at all..?

Is it there for Cheney to "draw down on"? Was there a real one, and he shot it, so they stuck a fake one in ?
