I am so so disappointed
It used to be a treat to come to this place. You got all the news, you got all the fun and the dirt on the republicans.

Now all you get is slur, slam, flame and dirt bagging Hillary Clinton. We ought to change the name of the site, after all that's all Obama supporters do.

Please lets go back to be civil. I don't know where these republican types came from but I wish they would stop.

And don't say Hillary supporters flame, slur and bash. All the do is try to defend Hillary. There is so much mis-information because it is related to Hillary slams you just don't like to read them any more.

It's the same deal as last time.

Everyone will settle down with each other eventually, after our nominee is picked.

about "All they do is try to defend Hillary."

you cannot put the name Biden or Edwards in a thread in any context without the same talking points being posted almost immediately. And they are not talking points "defending" Hillary. They include such words as "phony" and "plagiarism" - over, and over, and over.

You are right about the toxic atmosphere, but wrong about it being one-sided.

Oh, and exactly what is "after all that's all Obama supporters do." ??

oh, yeah, it is something "these republican types " would say!

10. Bullshit... and I'll call it again.. Bullshit
and your sad little schtick is getting old..

Granted DU has become a mess but it's not because people are "bashing" Hillary. It's because a site built on the idea that dissent is an American tradition is becoming a place where dissent is not welcome anymore. Maybe you are part of the problem.

There's just not enough cheese for all the whines from the Hillbots. I've seen ten times as many 'bashes' of Kucinich as I've seen of Clinton, and 100 times as many whining, crybaby posts complaining about how "unfair" DUers are to Clinton. ("No fair! She's a girl!" - is the apparent theme)

Did you miss the hostage situation, or were you part of it? When, not even when young democrat's lives were threatened, did the Clinton bashing stop. It was disgusting. And ugly and divisive. Distortion, lies, repeating the proven lies, just for a short-term win for your candidate. It is NOT democracy, it is reprehensible.

Deny all you want.

so I'm not here as much as I used to be. However I have seen much of the "bashing" you are so fond of pointing out without the "hostage crisis". Most of it amounts to facts that pro-Hillary people don't like and can't disprove. Sure there are some assholes on DU who just like to provoke shit but you are barking up the wrong tree with me. Besides the OP is one of the worst "bashers" on DU but I guess it's OK with you since he doesn't bash Hillary. As far as "my" candidate is concerned I don't have one. My candidate will probably be green so I can't discuss that here... Might cost "your" candidate the election...

What will it take to get the White House away for the Corporatist that are in charge now, and send some criminals to jail? Who is going to swing all the Republican voters needed for a clear win? Sorry it ain't Clinton.

Edited on Sun Dec-02-07 11:58 AM by Benhurst
A few Hillary and Obama groupies stand out this cycle; but last time around (2003-2004) there was a particularly obnoxious Edwards supporter who would go the attack against anyone who expressed even the slightest doubt about the senator's record.

One thing to remember, though, is the candidate so "honored" by such support is not responsible for it.

16. I'm so sick of this whiney, handwringing crap from Hillary supporters.
Edited on Sun Dec-02-07 12:19 PM by Marr
It *is* mostly Hillary supporters who whine in this specific way, and I know why. Here's the fact:

DU has always been this way during primary season. I've been hanging around since 2001, and this is the same place it was back then-- better, in fact, because it's more populated and we're finally beginning to push forward instead of just commiserating about Bush actions.

Hillary Clinton's supporters are frustrated because she's trending down. They want everyone to just 'shut the fuck up' and let her glide into a win. That's not going to happen. Just accept it and stop whining.

25. If candidate supporters say that about Obama supporters, believe me, he isn't
the only candidate that has supporters that start flame wars purposely to get threads shut down because they don't want their candidate challenged. There are plenty of other candidate's supporters that should be accused of the same thing.

It is a tactic that is rather successful on this board. Too bad the tactics are so transparent and that they actually work.

That is, unfortunately, what we must deal with here.

64. Awww..poor widdle Hillary. What do you think she's running for? Head Librarian?
The people are supposed to question the qualifications of the candidates and what they have said, how they've voted, who's financing them, etc.

She, like all the rest, are candidates for the highest office in the country. If she, or the others, don't like being questioned, bespattered, ridiculed, called names, and held to account for their antics, they really should look for another line of work.

71. To be fair, it's not just the anti Hillary people, it's also the anti Obama people, and...
the anti Edwards people, and so on. But you could also call them the pro Hillary people and the pro Obama people or the pro Edwards people and so on again. Most of the candidates have adherents here at DU continually praising or bashing them right now. And it's not going to stop, probably, until after the primary season. It may even get worse before it gets better.

I say that as someone who has not chosen a candidate yet, and I ignore most of the threads related to the candidates, particularly the front runners or threads with provacative titles.

What we have going on now is what I like to think of as the traditional "Running of the Partisans" here at DU, where during the primary season of a race, members who've chosen "their" candidate try to crush the opposition to dust under their verbal jackboot. It lasts much longer than the Running of the Bulls, and while it does not result in encounters of physical violence or injury - usually - the metaphoric violence can be brutal and devastating. Many will fall prey to the dueling flamewars between the partisans, and none are so vicious as those encountered in the primary season of a Presidential race. One must be quite thick-skinned at DU during this season just to survive...

77. Another bitwit bashing post. Unbelievable, do you ever read your own
posts. Yeah, you are right about getting the slur, slam, flame and dirt bagging from your posts especially and here you are basically doing it again.

Want to go back to being civil, you need to look in a mirror at yourself to help others get started.

Read your post and what you just said.

78. The problem IS the republicans. The dlc is consistently voting republican,
handing them power instead of the democrats, and she is a big part of the dlc.
She is very close to being a republican. And she takes millions of dollars from the most republican of companies: carlyle group, at&t, which makes it look as if she will move even further to the right if she is allowed to take office.

So, when you mention republican types, you have th wrong people in mind. We're doing our best to get rid of republicans, no matter what letter is after their name. (I'm thinking Feinstein when I write this, not HRC.)
