More gay men describe sexual encounters with U.S. Sen. Craig

David Phillips. Mike Jones. Greg Ruth. Tom Russell.

Four gay men, willing to put their names in print and whose allegations can't be disproved, have come forward since news of U.S. Sen. Larry Craig's guilty plea. They say they had sex with Craig or that he made a sexual advance or that he paid them unusual attention.

They are telling their stories now because they are offended by Craig's denials, including his famous statement, "I am not gay, I never have been gay." Those words, spoken on live national TV on Aug. 28, are now memorialized on a just-released-for-Christmas Talking Senator Larry Craig Action Figure.

David Phillips is a 42-year-old information technology consultant in Washington, D.C., who says Craig picked him up at a gay club in 1986 and that they subsequently had sex.

Mike Jones is a former prostitute who told the world he had sex with the Rev. Ted Haggard last year. The former Colorado Springs evangelist at first denied it but eventually confessed. Jones says Craig paid him for sex in late 2004 or early 2005.

Greg Ruth was a 24-year-old college Republican in 1981 when he says he was hit on by Craig at a Republican meeting in Coeur d'Alene.

Tom Russell, now 48, is a former Nampa resident who lives in Utah. Russell said his encounter with Craig occurred at Bogus Basin in the early 1980s.

1. I don't care if Craig is gay or bisexual, but I do care that he is a hypocrite.

2. To me, it's not only about his hypocrisy, but it's about the bigotry of his constituents

What if Craig embraced his bisexuality and came out of the closet, but also refused to leave office? I imagine his gay-hating constituents would then turn on him and he knows it. In other words, they liked the job he was doing for them as long as he wasn't admittedly gay or bisexual. Craig's hypocrisy is a function of the bigots who put him in office. An honest and principled man would now be rubbing it in the faces of his constituents and exposing all of them for the hateful bigots that they are. But expecting a politician to show society a mirror in which it sees its own ugliness seems to be asking for something that goes completely against their nature. And it would lead to a short political career.

3. That's true he can be gay if he wants but the hypocrite part
is what makes me angry with these guys. And with the way the republican party is about gays, how can Craig stay in the senate. It is a wonder he is not embarrassed because you know his fellow republicans won't associate with him.

4. These are detailed and specific. I hope he sticks around to embarrass the GOP
I agree totally with those who are concerned about this being an anti-gay thing, but this hypocrite MUST be exposed for his hypocrisy. He simply can't be allowed to spew his anti-gay rhetoric without hammering him for his hypocrisy.
