Mike Huckabee – "Surging" Republican

By Michael Collins
"Scoop" Independent News
Washington, D.C.

Mike Huckabee is the "surging" candidate to watch in the Republican presidential primaries, at least for the moment. The former Arkansas governor is an ordained Southern Baptist minister and a believer in the "inerrancy" doctrine of Biblical scripture. Inerrancy means, quite simply, that the believer accepts every bit of the Bible as literal truth (Adam & Eve, an earth just 6,000 years old, etc.)

As governor, Huckabee was an enthusiastic death penalty supporter. He now supports World War III against Muslim "fascists" and he's taking his message of death on the road.

A panel of talking heads on Chris Matthews' "Hard Ball" conferred legitimacy on the Huckabee candidacy last week. A more professional group of journalists at the Pew Forum treated Huckabee with deference by avoiding any hard hitting questions. There was nothing about Huckabee's February declaration of World War III or his beliefs in a final judgment in our times and no mention of his tainted past in Arkansas. Only Kathy Kay of the BBC raised questions about the specter of the candidate's extreme views.

Let's see what the former Arkansas governor and minister has in store for the United States if he's selected to win the Presidency.

After becoming governor in 1997, Huckabee signed death warrants for 16 executions by lethal injection. This violates the clearly worded, but frequently forgotten commandment, "Thou shalt not kill." He must know that World War III means even more killing and death. But neither position seems to bother him. In fact, he recently used death imagery in estimating the reaction of fellow Republicans to his fund raising gains: "If I were some of these guys, I'd have to be sitting in a warm tub of water with razor blades,"

Snip

The New Dark Ages

Does Huckabee really believe this nonsense? Probably. But he also has a record of killing mentally ill people by lethal injection, working diligently to free a rapist who murdered once freed then denying involvement, and a Giuliani-likerecord of taking liberties with government funds.

Perhaps he's ripe for an "all this can be yours" deal from the same donors that propelled Bush in the 2000 primaries. He campaigns as "the values guy" who is concerned about the workingman; a "just plain Huck" trying to help.

8. ...or something...
He really wants to be the messiah of perpetual war against Islam or, as he calls it, World War III.

From the article:

"One of his strongest supporters, millionaire TV preacher Rev. John Hagee, agrees with Huckabee on the urgency of fighting Islam. Hagee also offers a version of the "End Times" from the Book of Revelations, one shared by other Huckabee supporters on the religious right. These include the influential publisher of apocalyptic prophesy Strang Communications. The Strang newsletter, New Man, endorsed Huckabee saying, "When it comes to faith, he is truly one of our own.

"The key action starts when Russia invades Israel. The United States fails to defend Israel and is punished by seeing both coasts nuked. A European anti-Christ emerges and does battle with the second coming of Jesus. There's death and destruction on a global scale. All but a very few are cast into Hell. Hagee's Jesus then rules a world of true believers in an earthly paradise despite the bi-coastal U.S. nuclear holocaust."

31. The Apple & The Tree
“David Huckabee, a son of Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, was arrested at an Arkansas airport Thursday after a federal X-ray technician detected a loaded Glock pistol in his carry-on luggage.

"I removed the bag and asked Mr. Huckabee if he knew what he had in the bag," Little Rock police officer Arthur Nugent wrote in a report after he was summoned to a security checkpoint. "He replied he did now."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/04/26/08-candidate-huckabees-_n_46957.html

“LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — In a desperate and cynical attempt to get some attention for his utterly forgotten campaign for the GOP nomination, former Governor Mike Huckabee pulled a Jim Webb on his own son and sent young David Huckabee through airport security with a LOADED HANDGUN.

The Glock .40-caliber was “loaded with eight rounds” and concealed in David Huckabee’s briefcase, which he cunningly put through the X-Ray machine. He was immediately charged and found guilty and sentenced — shit moves fast in Arkansas, apparently — to a year in state prison! Hooray! Oh, but it was a “suspended sentence.” That’s how it is in Arkansas. Daddy even pardons the rapist”

“BOY SCOUTS KILL DOG!

ACTION NEEDED: DEMAND INVESTIGATION

(Miller County, Arkansas) Two boy scout counselors, 17 year old Clayton Frady and 18 year old David litickabee, the son of Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, have admitted to catching a stray dog during their summer session at Camp Pioneer in Hatfield, AR, and hanging the dog by his neck, slitting his throat and stoning him to death.

Camp officials, who did not report the crime to law enforcement officials, have admitted that the act did occur and have fired the boys from their positions. However, no charges have been filed against the young men.

Arkansas State Police conducted a perfunctory investigation, but did not attempt to locate witnesses to the crime”

I had no idea just how creepy he was either.

It's linked in the article, but check this out by Murray Waas on Huckabee's pardon of a 3 time rapist who went right out and murdered a woman in Missouri after Huckabee lobbied real hard for parole (he was going to commute the sentence altogether but got too much flack). Today, Huckabee denies this ever happened and blames Clinton! Total liar.

What will they serve up next?

There's a battle going on thought Today we've got the obstruction of justice charge on Plame and a couple of other items, not to mention the CNN report pressing the Pentagon on intelligence flights. Damn!

We are in some scary times. Not Huck's "end times" but the end of any toleerance for established
institutions.

Here's a paragraph from the conclusion:

"Should he be "chosen," we'll be lead to this promised land by President Huckabee who thinks that the
world was created 6,000 years ago; that Adam & Eve were the first humans on earth; that evolution is a
myth; and that we're all just biding time until our world is devastated and replaced by a paradise from
which most of us will be excluded. What more could we expect from a corporate America that gave us
Bush – Cheney and then did nothing about it."

The MSM folks jumped all over Rudy G based on the article in "Politico" on Nov. 28. But "Politico" did
the same type of survey of old "Huck" on the 23rd, more damning ($150,000 in personal gifts!). But
not a word other than propping the guy up as the "next big thing" man of the people, "Bush with brains
...

There's no reason to think it will change. The same mega bucks donors that propped Bush may
step in for this guy. We'll see. But, as for now, no more Minister of Death for me. I know what
I need to about this guy.

(Just shows you how rough Arkansas politics are!)

16. be afraid, very much so...
that Baptist fundamentalist lobby has lots of true believer fervency. And there's a shitload of them out there.

I suspect the Unitedstatesamerican public lacks the patience to think through to the essential corruptness of this fellow's Soul. Thanks, Autorank, for passing along Collins' stuff, all the way from New Zealand. I remember the Baptists lured a bunch of us elementary school Catholic kids. The dude had done his homework. First, a puppet show. Then a few songs. Then gives us a song and dance about how onerous the ritual of Confession is. So he asks us to stand up and declares all our sins cleansed, just like that! Wow. No personal confrontation. No guilt. No going out Saturday to kneel and do Penance. It was all too easy and none of my friends bought into the preacher's game. Of course, we all had to go to Confession that week because The Church taught us that stepping foot into that place was itself a Sin!!! May my Soul burn in Purgatory for a few millenia.

but I digress.

Let's hope we can prove Mencken wrong and folks will see the absence of morality and ethics in this most petty guy's history. The gift registry story woulda had me rolling in the aisle when I heard it on the FM radio recently, 'cept I was doing 65 on the interstate. Huk had been married X years already, but that didn't prevent him and his wife setting up a department store Bridal Register so all his cronies could buy him a shitload of stuff. Not illegal, you know, but he was leaving the public tit of the guv's crib and they needed new stuff.

btw, "Thou Shall Not Kill" doesn't mean you can't hire someone to do the killing for you.

In the beginning was the recommendation. And the recommendation was with...

21. Even worse!
I think that could be right but I think this guy can both believe all of the nonsense his right wing pals come up with and, at the same time, be in it for the bucks. He's special, deserves a bit of mana. But I'm also of the mind that you could well be right. He does like those gifts, $150,000 in personals from folks.

He's way too concerned about death and suffering, as I see it. It reminds me of a very old film called "A Face in the Crowd" - young Andy Griffith, very very dark film.

"From the outset, when he is picked up as a drunken guitar-playing tramp by a female television reporter in an Arkansas town, he progressively dominates the TV audience to which he is expandingly exposed, the advertising agency representatives and the big industrialist by whom he is employed. He even is coming close to dominating a political faction and a Presidential aspirant when the rug is suddenly pulled out from under him by his girl friend, who throws a studio switch."
http://tinyurl.com/34dzuh

When he's back stage talking about how stupid his fans are, real nasty stuff, it turns out that his mike is live and the whole world hears him. He's finished but they've got another version of him in the wings, a "real nice guy" etc.

18. Blocked the abortion of a mentally retarded girl, who had been raped by her stepfather
"One of his first acts as governor was to block Medicaid from funding an abortion for a mentally retarded teenager who had been raped by her stepfather — an act in direct violation of federal law, which requires states to pay for abortions in cases of rape. “The state didn’t fund a single such abortion while Huckabee was governor,” says Dr. William Harrison of the Fayetteville Women’s Clinic. “Zero.”"

19. Thanks for including that. What a monster, eh?
What does it take. But he's a clone of the * crew - all about death and suffering.

He should be shut down but MSM was just gaga over him last week. They knew about his slush fund and parole action. I'll tell you one thing for sure, he will get wiped out completely in Missouri. There is a full knowledge of what this guy can do when he goes into action. The Dumond parole had a requirement that Dumond leave the state. So where did he go? Right to Missouri where he murdered that woman, after leaving Arkansas. There was a look-alike murder very close to the one he was convicted for the same night, I believe, and another where he was a suspect. So old "Huck" turns him lose (Huckabee wanted to commute the sentence originally) and the guy goes on a rampage. But the problem had been "transferred" to another venue and the governor survived...to threaten the entire world.

These establishment media types think they're cute by ignoring all of this. But they life here too. Watch how contributions materialize. That will tell the story, who gives and how much. He's not at all beyond a deal.

I remember when Huckabee first became Gov. of Arkansas and he was awful, he started tempering his image after he and his wife ended up living in a trailer and he started losing weight. I was stunned when he decided to run for President and never believed he would gain any stride, not like he has recently. You've followed his record perfectly Autorank and I hope this article makes the rounds because he is a frightening man, but the kind of soft sell "good ole boy" that does sell in the South, guitar and all.

45. Thanks for the feedback. Very helpful.
Researching him is an adventure. I had no real bias other than against his right wing politics. But it's all there. The Arkansas Times was very useful but the information is there. Didn't know about the trailer, good grief. One thing I couldn't find was why he was sympathetic to Dumond in the first place, if there was a specific connection? I was told that he's a "big picture" guy and glosses over things, which may be true. But that was a rotten deal, he was warned, and the warning was true. I'm sure that he'd never carry Missouri.

The article is getting very good exposure, front page of Buzz Flash, which is always great and a bunch of other places - OpEd and Chimp, headline, front page. Next we'll take a look at the craven corporate media, see why they missed that Politico article on old Huck five days before Rudy got it in the same web publication.

Again, thanks shifting_sands.
