nobody can, amazingly enough, identify a single example of somebody turning down a raise because it puts them in a higher tax bracket, or any example of somebody who doesn't work hard because it might accidentally put them in a higher tax bracket.

5. There was a TV special

on the children of rich kids. It was actual horryifying to see the damaging effects of inherited wealth. While the cheerfully naive Dad was painting his oils the kids could do anything, appreciated nothing and could not muster the will to persevere outside their protective environment. Freidns? Only other rich kids who could empathize. Career? If it gets too hard pretending to have to sacrifice and taking on unaccustomed burdens to work they didn't NEED to do they fall away. The look on their faces was a special kind of alienation and self-worthlessness that all the money in the world provides a substitute haven and a personal hell. If anyone needed to have the crutches removed there they were and it was already too late for the most part.

Anyone arguing, "but not my kid" should watch that film.
