Military exercise question?
Does the military usually divulge upcoming military exercises with other nations? If so, does anyone know where to find that info.

2. Yes, to prevent misunderstandings and unpleasant surprises
Of course, a 'military exercise' can also be a cover for a covert operation or something, but if you're going to be shooting off missiles and such, it helps if the people nearby know in advance.

3. Exercise and Info
You may want to check the DOD links on the internet or write to their PAO. If the US is conducting an exercise with another country. The local Public Affairs Officer will publish something in Stars and Stripes or in the local media as a means of alerting the populace that the exercise will be an exercise and not an invasion. It usually has a description of what will happen in a bland sort of way and stuff of like traffic restrictions. I mentioned Stars and Stripes. You can google them for the website, but it is the old newspaper in a European and Pacific edition which will have local stories on exercise. You could probably write to them or check the archives on their website for more info too.

4. Most exercises are yearly ones so
most nations know what's what. I'm thinking of Ulchi Focus Lens (with korea) Cobra gold (with thailand) and Rainbow Serpent (with Australia) as the ones I have participated in in the last few years......

5. If it requires restriciting international airspace/waters it requires notice
There is a well documented and formal process. Its also a normal curtesy even if its totally within ones own borders if it might be interpreted as *something else* by a neighbor.
