It's time for Congress to condemn John Bolton and Norman Podhoretz for their insidious statements
Edited on Thu Dec-06-07 07:19 AM by ck4829
MoveOn.org was condemned for pretty much the same thing, these two should be too. They're trying to sound intellectual with their statements, but the accusations of treason are there.

"I think there is a risk here, and I raise this as a question, whether people in the intelligence community who had their own agenda on Iran for some time now, have politicized this intelligence and politicized these judgments in a way contrary to where the administration was going."

- John Bolton

Yes Bolton, just like how the Intelligence Community had their own agenda on Iraq, and thus the Office of Special Plans needed to be created, right?

"But I entertain an even darker suspicion. It is that the intelligence community, which has for some years now been leaking material calculated to undermine George W. Bush, is doing it again."

- Norman Podhoretz

"Darker suspicion", what's that supposed to mean? Oh, you're accusing people who debunk the White House of treason or something? Weren't the people who debunked the White House on Iraq called traitors too? But, weren't they also right?

The harsh reality of it all is that like any group in the War on Terror, the Intelligence Community has taken hits. A prominent example is during the case of the "American Taliban", when a CIA Agent was killed during a prison riot. Let's also not forget about Valerie Plame, who had her career ruined during the Bush Administration's march to war.

We should not stand for this.

Tell Congress to condemn John Bolton and Norman Podhoretz TODAY!

1. I think both of these guys...
... are asshats, and furthermore that everyone but flatliners know it.

Their comments are within reasonable free speech limits, they did not threaten they merely tried to persuade.

I don't think anyone should do anything but ignore them.

2. the flatlanders are killing us in this country right now IMO
take the campaigning out of the church and we wouldn't be here in this mess today. Oh I know they don't openly campaign but with a word here an idea there and here in a minute a picture in peoples minds is created. Although subtle its still campaigning

3. Well that's....
...another issue. I said "flatliners" as in stupid people. They will always, like the poor, be with us.

Campaigning in a church is illegal, and I wish the law was enforced. But I doubt it ever will.

4. This is ironic.
My guess is you objected to Congress condemning MoveOn. Now, you're calling for them to condemn others for the same spurious reason.

I don't want Congress in the business of condemning anyone's free speech rights.

Period.

5. Fair is fair
When they make a second resolution un-condemning MoveOn.org, then there won't be a problem.

6. no. bad precedent on top of bad precedent
is stupid and dangerous. You're simply wishing for them to engage in childish tit for tat behavior.

7. I heard Bolton last night on the radio
CBC was interviewing him regarding the NIA assessment.

When asked if the US would go to war regardless of what the NIA stated - he replied, "Well isn't that a snarky question?"

He came across very badly in my opinion. Kudo's to the interviewer - she had to endure his epic sarcasm.
