BREAKING NEWS: Omaha police chief identifies victims

Omaha Police Chief Thomas Warren has identified the people killed in Wednesday's shooting at Westroads Mall. The victims range in age from 24 to 66 and include Von Maur employees and customers. The victims include: Beverly Flynn, 47, of Omaha; Janet Jorgensen, 68, of Omaha; Gary Joy, 56, of Omaha; John McDonald, 65, of Council Bluffs; Gary Scharf, 48, of Lincoln; Angie Schuster, 36, of Omaha; Dianne Trent, 53, of Omaha; and Maggie Webb, 24. The shooting suspect, Robert A. Hawkins, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

1. why do WE need to know there names? Shouldnt this just apply to friends and family

and why do we need to know the name of the offenders as the offense is happening? I never understood why the press rushes to put a name to the story. The press messed up last week when they guessed at the name of the Hillary Campaign office hostage taker.
