How naive of me to think our laws applied to all Americans... |
|
And I'm sure many other Americans believed that no one, not the President or the Vice-President of the US or any other government officials, is above the law. Well, to paraphrase the quote from the western movie, Tombstone, "Law don't go down around here..."
Today, we find out that the CIA destroyed video tapes of them torturing prisoners, so as to avoid any prosecution. They admit it. They destroyed government materials or documents, obviously in disregard of the laws. It is criminal. The tapes did not belong to them - they belonged to us, the American people. Whatever crimes they have committed, they have committed in our names. If we do not prosecute them, we are nothing more than accomplices...
