How about making it illegal to tell people they are going to hell? Call it "religious harassment". |
|
And set it in the same category as sexual harassment. Think about it: All throughout history the threat of going to hell was used to forcefully exercise control over the defenseless. Kind of like an attempted rape.
If you think the threat of going to hell is covered by freedom of speech, then how about going from door to door and telling women "hey baby wanna f__k?". And dropping pamphlets into people's mailboxes that say "you might loose you're home if you don't let us have sex with your daughter."
Despite the fact that you would eventually get your jaw knocked in, do you think that would be freedom of speech or harassment?

3. LOL! Since the whole concept of "going to Hell" is preposterous, why would anyone care? |
|
Why would anyone care enough about being told that they are going to Hell to press charges on someone who did it? Your whole premise here is ridiculous.

8. First I would need to see proof of an existing Hell. |

When you don't believe in a Heaven or Hell it's easy to laugh off such statements. Long live the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

11. Good response. I always use the Santa logic. |
|
Most people quit thinking Santa was real when an older brother or sister told them the truth. Why does the brainwashing work so well with Religion?

9. I'm offended when people don't warn me I'm going to hell. |
|
I'm not following any faith, and I'm sure I break there various rules. If they really believe I'm hell bound, I'd appreciate the warning. It shows they care.

You think that this is a good idea?
I mean, it's certainly obnoxious to tell someone that they are going to hell, but to legislate it?
How about telling people to Go To Hell when you're pissed off? Cause I've been known to do that to my husband when he's in a bad mood! :)

14. I'd correct the spelling first. But that's just me |

"lose", not "loose", and "your", not "you're"
Unless you are ("you're) going to lose your loose home. Not sure what a loose home is, unless perhaps you f__k everyone around, which might be considered loose by some.
And regarding freedom of speech, why am I even bothering here? OK, telling someone they are going to hell is different than making a direct threat to them.

16. Spelling is accurate, grammar ain't |
|
I see "loose" used all the time in place of "lose," such as "He's such a looser." And don't get me started on superfluous apostrophes.
But then again, I hear people saying "heighth" instead of "height." I have to ask them where that extra "h" came from.
I'm on the highway to hell.
Living easy, livin' free Season ticket, on a one-way ride Asking nothing, leave me be Taking everything in my stride Don't need reason, don't need rhyme Ain't nothing I would rather do Going down, party time My friends are gonna be there too
I'm on the highway to hell Highway to hell I'm on the highway to hell Highway to hell
No stop signs, speedin' limit Nobody's gonna slow me down Like a wheel, gonna spin it Nobody's gonna mess me 'round Hey Satan! Paid my dues. Playin' in a rockin' band Hey Mama! Look at me I'm on my way to the promised land
I'm on the highway to hell Highway to hell I'm on the highway to hell Highway to hell
Don't stop me!

15. It's a freedom of speech issue, not an issue of harassment or threats. |
|
If it were an issue of harassment or even threats, then a requirement in the law is that the threat convey immediate and real consequences for failure to comply with the threat. Going to hell at some undefined future point is too esoteric and vague that I don't believe it would pass the test of immediacy. Nevermind real consequences.
