Stalking the shadows- Long live the writers!!!
Edited on Thu Dec-13-07 08:58 AM by shadowknows69
Gentlemen and ladies, I salute you. If I wore a hat on any basis regular enough to call it a habit I would tip it to you.

Continue, you bards, to sing to us your tales of whimsy and of woe and keep us enthralled.

Speak in tones of truth to open our eyes or fantastical fiction to transport our souls.

Know your audience by being your audience. Be true to your own voice and your words will wander into our minds uninhibited.

Show us again and again that imagination is the best media. Create worlds in our heads and inspire us to believe in magic and love again.

Give no quarter to talking heads and digital realms; take back the language that we love from those that would usurp its power.

Can you still be mightier than the sword? Even at the threat of the blade cutting you?
Continue to cross those lines that need erasing.

Smudge away the illusions with the end of your number two pencils and fill in the blanks with integrity.

Cheers to you weavers of the words! Triumphant and divine is your calling and blessed are we that patronize your gifts. Shared experience unites us and observing our human condition is your mandate.

Report all you see in all you say. Humor us with wit either silly or sly or scare us into action with tales how the world might die. Horrible acts revealed to examine the nature of evil or erotic adventures conceived of lust.

Expose the crimes and criminals of our times and hold fast against the storm. We need you to lead us as well. Sometimes a deafened ear needs a whisper to hear again.

So draw close now storyteller and teach us well. The soul of humanity may be in your adept fingers as you flick across those keys.

Long live the writers! Long live the singers of songs! Spin the yarns that make us laugh or cry or the ones we dread. Be humanity’s hope and continue to write the right and write the wrongs.
