Grandmother Arrested Over Branch-Belt Discipline Of Girl

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Central Florida woman was arrested after disciplining her 8-year-old granddaughter with a branch and belt, according to police.

Investigators said Gaynell Wylie left signs of a recent spanking with on Tierra Williams' face -- two lines across her cheek.

Teachers said they noticed the marks and reported the finding.

The girl's mother, Toccara Williams said she was in the hospital at the time of the incident. She said her daughter moved while getting spanked and that is why she had the lines on her face.

"Now my daughter did say her grandma was whipping her on her rump and she turned around and moved, and hit her right (on the face)," mother Toccara Williams said. "So Grandma told her, 'I'm sorry, this was an accident' and put ice on her eye."

The girl told the reporter she was being spanked for stealing things from other peoples' back packs.

At least she was not tazed :)

1. I would think that making the child return the items and

writing a letter of apology to each student she stole from would be sufficient embarrassment to stop her from stealing again.


I imagine this is how her grandmother was disciplined as a child.
