Americans do not want to be reminded that the... |
|
...illegitimate government of Motherfucker George Bush and Shitstain Shoots-Guy-In-Face started one justified war (but fucked up the intended outcome) and one illegal war. Thus movies like "Charlie Wilson's War," "The Kingdom," "Rendition," "Lions for Lambs," and "Redacted" will or are doing horribly at the box office.
The real shame of our country is that we can no longer stand up and be accountable for the actions of our government. Neither can we face the truth when confronted with it.

...but Americans flocked to WWII movies during the war because they saw it as just and they had the skin of the their sons (for the most part it was sons) in that war. Also, movies about our current wars should inspire anger not depression and then a call to action.

the current war is just plain crap....I'm a movie buff, at the movies almost weekly and I've been against the war from the start but I don't want to pay to see it dramatized in the movies - the right wing freaks (that includes you piece of SHIT freepers trolling here) are stupid enough to think the low attendance at these movies is some kind of reflection of the war's popularity - but it just ain't so.

Please don't include me with that "we". I have been facing the truth about America's corrupt Govt. since Tricky Dickhead's time.

6. That didn't seem to keep 'Fahrenheit 911' from being successful. |

The link from movie topic to box office success, or lack thereof, may be a tenuous one.
Edit: clarification

7. I wont be seeing any of them either |

and I wouldn't mind betting my knowledge of the histories of these "conflicts" is better than most.
I don't want to pay $20 to have Tom Cruise reinforce my views - I'll go to folk like Alexander Cockburn, Jeffrey St. Clair, Robest Fisk and Ali Abunimah for information, not some gimpy Hollywood waste of space.
I'd wager the average American is more informed now than they ever were.
How many Americans knew about Operation Phoenix? How many knew about the crimes of SOA during the 80's, how many knew what rendition was when Clinton signed it into being?
Not wanting to watch a crappy film really doesn't suggest anything about me other than - I don't want to watch a crappy film.

9. Maybe it's simply a question that those who go to movies aren't doing much thinking? |
