For more than five years, AT&T and other telephone companies broke the law and violated their customers' privacy rights by sending billions of private domestic internet and telephone communications and records to the National Security Agency.

Now, after months of pressure from the Bush Administration, the full Senate is poised to grant retroactive immunity to these companies, which would effectively ensure that the full extent of their complicty will never be known.

When I write my senators, this is what I say to them: Be great instead of being ashamed. Be the people you wanted to be when you grew up. It's not up to anybody else. It's not up to circumstance and it's not up to "if only" and it's not up to all the stuff you put up there to get in the way of what is so fucking clear it makes the road to Damascus look lost in the haze, it's not up to anyone but you to fucking listen when history's calling your name.

No retreat. No surrender. No backing down, no apologizing, no equivocating, no compromising, no bullshitting on the Sunday shows about how it's all too tough and you had to explain it to your district, and you had to get re-elected, and isn't it awful how politics just isn't worthy of the likes of you, and oh, good, you brought your checkbook because I have telemarketers to pay. No knuckling under. No benefit of the doubt. No bipartisan weaseling. No complicity. No cover-ups. No excuses.

Retroactive immunity for these companies will stop important court actions that will bring to light the full extent of the crimes of this administration. Only in a court will these companies be forced to tell the true and full extent of the involvement of this government into the lives and liberties of it's people. As leaders and as people who wish or wished to hold the most privileged office in this land I would hope you would all consider standing firm for our rights and liberties and not the privileges of some who would take advantage of those you are sworn to serve.

Stand firm against those who would do harm to all that we have held out to the world as our "crown jewels"; freedom from illegal search, the right to free associate and speak with whom we will with out bias. These are but a few of the rights abridged by this administration and by the companies named in these matters. It is for the courts to do their work. 30. It is around 6:40 in Kentucky and I just called and spoke to one of

Reid's assistants who informed me that Reid brought up both bills today. I reamed her with Excalibur! He did not have to bring the bill to the floor which gives immunity to the phone companies; that is why he was chosen Speaker. As I reminded her, the Gopers never brought anything up that they did not want passed. He obviously wanted the immunity passed or he wanted to avoid any responsibility. He is now just below Mitch McConnell on my very blackest list; that takes some doing. I am going to have my landline switched to Insight as of January (until I find out that they are also spying on me) and I suggest all of you follow my lead. The only way to get attention of these cheaters and losers is through their pocketbooks. They should pay big time for this collusion. They were trying to get something for spying on their customers, so let's give it to them.
