I so wanted to watch Keith Olbermann last night but I had to turn it off thanks to Tweety |
|
That's just a horrible pairing and I swear half the time while Tweety was talking, Olbermann was giving him the evil eye.

They're already running "NFL Films"-style promos designed to make their coverage of the 2008 election look like football coverage--plugging their team of commentators on politics.
The thing that caught my eye was that for the very first time on any MSNBC promo I can recall, they mentioned Keith first, Tweety second. They PICTURED Keith first, Tweety second.
Looks as if MSNBC's former "king of political analysis" has been dethroned.
If you don't like what happens when he and Keith get together, tell 'em. It bugs me too. It's all Keith can do to say anything. He got more of a chance to last night, maybe. But Tweety's star worship and tendency to riff on utterly irrelevant things that just happen to enter his head, like a child with ADD, is really annoying. (Just as * was coming in last night, he started musing on how it was that the Dems ended up with blue as their color.)

3. To be Fair (if not Balanced) |

Keith did note idly that many women in the room were wearing red, and noted that it was ironic that they'd wear a color strongly associated with 'Red States' even if they weren't from one, mentioning how well the color stands out on TV. Then Matthews took that and ran away (very ADD), riffing on everything from women's clothes -- such an expert -- to how the Democrats wound up with blue, saying something about how that surprised him because it's supposed to be people's favorite color. He might have said 'Americans' favorite color' but I'm paraphrasing. He went on for about 2 1/2 minutes, only shutting his yap when the Sergeant started introducing people (Supremes?)
What bugged me is that Matthews was so much more interested in what was coming out of his mouth than in what was happening. I'd *almost* rather listen to *. I was glad to see later on (after the speechifying from the Prez) that Keith started holding up his hand, leaning across the desk and saying 'wait a minute' to get past the wall of sound generated by Matthews.

5. Horrible pairing? Not according to Tweety. |
|
The other day Tweety referred to the Olbermann-Matthews team as the new Huntley-Brinkley. :eyes: Tweety is so full of himself. I'm sure the fact that Olbermann kicks his ass in the ratings department every night really gets under his skin. In Tweety's mind, he wasn't supposed to be riding another MSNBC anchor's coat tails. The other anchors were supposed to be riding his. :nopity: Step aside, little man, there's a new anchor in town.

Someone needed to put him out of his (and our) misery.

7. I watched a good portion of it and |
|
counted at least a half dozen times Tweety cut off Keith or talked over him. He does that to many of his guests on his own show but that style doesn't cut it when applied to your "teammate".

8. Mathews is unable to discuss issues. |
|
He can only talk about soft news - people's likability, image, fashions, looks, and so on. He is becoming like Gracie Allen. It must be torture for aomeone with a brilliant mind like KO to share the mike with him.

10. I think Tweety is trying to ride on KO's coat tails because KO is so popular and Tweety isn't. |
|
They never joined forces before KO's ratings started going up. I would much rather watch KO alone in all his glory. Tweety's big mouth ruined the show. KO ALONE! NO MORE TWEETY!

11. There was not enough Olbermann. The majority in our house couldn't STAND to hear |
|
Matthew's loud mouth tainting the coverage. It's enough to ask people to sit and listen/watch Bush, that, in itself, is so distasteful. But adding Matthew's on top of that pile of crud was too much.

12. Email them my suggestion: |
|
Arm Keith with a cattle prod so he can zap Tweety in the patootie when he gets out of line. People would pay good money to see that, I'll bet.

and he asked me last year what the hell happened to him. It seems that he used to be a really nice intelligent guy. Guess selling out your soul for ratings does that...:eyes:
