How do Faux "New" viewers keep everything straight? |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-20-07 09:28 AM by Patiod
I don't have cable, but was watching Faux "News" at the gym yesterday --it was either that, "General Hospital" "I Love New York" or "Extra" -- the only things on the 4 TVs.
Sheppard Smith (whose face looks like a Ken doll) was berating someone from Oregon who had proposed that climbers be required carry beacons/locators. Smith was furious that someone wanted the government to step into private business! How dare they! The climbers choose to climb, the rescuers are volunteers, and the rescue money comes from private funds! Government needs to BUTT OUT!!!!
The next story was about people trapped on a plane, and Smith went off on a rant about how RUDE airline people were to him, and how badly he was treated at airports, and how every other industry is all about service except the airlines. He thought airlines should be required to treat passengers better
OK, so to recap: Government steps in to save lives - bad Government steps in to make Sheppard Smith's life more comfortable: good
/the only other time I ever saw this guy was the day before Katrina hit, and he was running around the French Quarter screaming that people were going to DIE and he was practically BEGGING people to leave New Orleans. Once again, I can remember being at the gym and thinking "this guy is out of his mind" but I have to admit he got that one pretty much on the money.

1. if the last talking point is the reality |
|
you don't have to keep anything straight
the next talking point comes along and that's the new reality...until the next talking point...and then the next...and then the next..

3. my husband calls Fox news a sitcom |
|
he says that's the only way it makes any sense...inmates took over the asylum and turned the building into a news room, where the patients now deliver the news from their skewed perspective of reality, and the public has yet to catch on

7. Wow! the OP set that cartoon up perfectly |
|
That's exactly what I experienced at the gym yesterday -- although 95% of Faux's coverage was on non-political stories (Brittany shaves her head! Passengers are stuck on aircraft! Luggage is lost! A liquor store is on fire in Maryland! Anna Nicole still dead!) there were some Bzzraapp! Splutter!! moments....

6. That's nothing compared to the "Clinton should have attacked OBL" |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-20-07 10:07 AM by underpants
which is part of the "we have been in a war on terror since 1993" BUT "They were only in office for 8 months" and "Bush can't get OBL because of ____________"
That is a really hard one to square up.

15. They don't watch anything else. |
|
I don't know of any Fox news viewer who will watch/listen to anything but hard-core right wing propaganda, be it Rush or Laura Inghram or Hannity on the radio. They build an echo chamber for themselves, and then when the accidentally stumble upon truth, they blame it all on "liberal media" for distorting poor Goergie's motives/record/history.
