McCain may in fact be right about Rummy but it was an incredibly stupid thing to say from a politcal standpoint.
Tony Snow is going to have to respond because Cheney said he was the best ever. Cheney is going to have to respond. The Decider is going to have defend Rummy and dis McCain. It is going to be tit for tat for the next week. Rummy is going to have to get Leeden Bolton and other PNACers to call the bloggers.
Watch the NeoCons suddenly start talking about Duncan Hunter
Ultimately because of fundraising issues, McCain is going to have to back off his words, That's going to make him look wishy washy and not very smart politically.(Duuuuuuhhhhhhh)
This is going to hurt him with NeoCons the same way his comments about Falwell et al hurt him back in 2000 with the religious right!
A stunningly stupid move on McCain part.

Whatever respect I had for him disappeared on the Bush campaign trail, when he hugged and kissed on Georgie boy... The way he is sucking up to these Religious leaders shows me this is not a maverick but an ass kisser....

6. Yes, he is, but the media loves the guy. He will get a pass for everything and |

except for some number of neocons (more than a few but not enough to make a difference) and he will be the R's war hero candidate. His sucking up to the Christian right will continue and he will make up for the neocons lack of support. IMO, there are a lot of independents who like the guy because of his war record in Vietnam.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Maverick, usually referring to semi-wild, unbranded cattle in the Western United States. The term is also applied (less commonly) to other unbranded range animals such as horses; for an example, see the Dallas Mavericks logo
mav·er·ick (măv'ər-ĭk, măv'rĭk) n. An unbranded range animal, especially a calf that has become separated from its mother, traditionally considered the property of the first person who brands it. One that refuses to abide by the dictates of or resists adherence to a group; a dissenter. adj. Being independent in thought and action or exhibiting such independence: maverick politicians; a maverick decision.
They are trying to paint him as the latter, which is certainly isn't.
