Blankley's not there so Buchanan did the horse blanket joke.

It's become a tradition.

1. But does he have enough hair nowadays to bother with "The Spray!"
There was an article by a hapless staffer who used to work for that baaastid that appeared in Washingtonian Magazine in the mid nineties, entitled "Get In Here, Cement Head!"

It described, in excruciating detail, the sheer HORROR of working for McLaughlin, his arrogance, cruelty, habit of holding court whilst taking a shit a-la-LBJ, his girlfriend who cooked breakfast meats wearing a thong...and McLaughlin's obsession with "The Spray"--which was hairspray to hold those few strands he has on his head in place.

It was a brilliant piece. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find it online, but if anyone ever does stumble across it, I recommend it HIGHLY. It's gut-bustingly funny.

2. I'd love to read that.
The show is so funny sometimes. I try not to miss it. Guilty pleasure.

3. If you are ever near a library that carries the magazine, it's worth looking up.
I was on the floor laughing. It appeared in the mid to late nineties, I'd say between late 95 and perhaps early 97 at the latest.

I wish they'd put some of their older stuff online, that article was a work of art.

The way the guy described the mad rush of the panelists to their seats before they began their discussion (to swiftly grab their CHECKS, placed on the seats, and secret them safely away) was just hilarious.

We're talking something I read over a decade ago, and in the course of my work I had to read an awful lot, an onerous amount, really--but I never forgot that piece. It was some funny writing, that! An absolute delight.
