I would throw a truthinut at the cop as a distraction so that I could rescue the person being abused. If a truthinut were not available, then I would throw donuts.

and some places take civilian complaints very seriously. One of our national problems is to lump everyone into generalized categories and then cynically comment on the generalized stereotype. Unfortunately the police do it but so do too many other wise law abiding citizens. We need to find common cause and thank the men and women who honorably try to do what is a terribly dangerous job. They don't like the brutes and psychopaths in their midst either.

...and then pull them apart. Then there's time to figure out whether that's really a police officer--perhaps while being hauled away for interfering with an arrest.
