1. Thanks for posting that.
I'll take a look at it when I have a little more time.

3. If everyone at DU were to at least listen to him in passing...
Half or more of the threads here would immediately disappear.

This video is a good snippet to introduce his ideas, however I would strongly recommend viewing his talks which are available on Youtube and many other places.

4. Indeed. Chomsky and Herbert Marcuse helped me early on in defining/identifying the ...
Structures of power and control. It's this break in how one experiences our society and being able to connect the dots as to how and why it operates as it does that is the major disconnect for most. It's not explained {for obvious reasons} within the various mainstream circles most spend most of their time in, are raised in, and have been indoctrinated by/into. This is why I chose this clip, as it's short and concise.

"Pessimistic of intellect, and optimistic of will."

5. True enough. I have another suggestion-
Michael Parenti.

He is much more animated than Chomsky, and is certainly easier to read.

Myself, I happen to really like Chomsky's style, both written and verbal. As he has said, "facts matter". However, some people will prefer Parenti's delivery.
I must admit that I really like Parenti and wish he got 1/10th the attention that Chomsky got.

Alas, we will be lucky if this thread doesn't get locked or deleted...

6. Yes I've heard of him
Why would a mod lock or delete this thread?

Anyhow, nice book cover on stolen elections:

7. Because of what it represents.
This is after all DU. By definition this is a place that supports the system; the same system that we feel is corrupt.

Of course seeing that this thread is mostly you and I going back and forth there may be no need to delete or lock as it will just sink off the page. Be assured that if this line of thought continues, and more people begin to post, it will not survive.
